This monthly office hour is open to all mentees enrolled in Girls Write Now programs and their mentors. At this first session, we’ll walk through how to submit your work to Stories by Girls Write Now and share more details about your author pages—with lots of time for Q&A!
Learn how to research a company and use the job description to your advantage to craft a resume that will help you stand out in any candidate pool! After covering the basics, you will work in a breakout room with other mentors and mentees on putting what you learned into practice and fine-tuning your resume.
In this Community Chat, we’re going to focus on gender and sexual orientation as it pertains to writing. We’re going to consider steps we can take to create pieces that have characters who reflect our own gender expressions, gender identities and/or sexual orientations and those that are different from our own.
Join Manga writer and illustrator Misako Rocks! as she leads an all-skills level welcome Manga lesson—which includes drawing by hand! Misako will also share her journey as a writer and illustrator, as well as behind-the-scenes tales of her upcoming graphic novel, BOUNCE BACK.
In this workshop, we’ll try our hand at using non-linear formats and writing in fragments to create stories that defy the norm.
We asked young women and gender-expansive youth in our community to all look at the same footage as inspiration for a story from their perspective. Hear Kat's story.
