EVST News March 8th, 2021 Happy second week of March! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are ready to relax on our second break day of the semester coming up tomorrow. This week's newsletter features more summer & post-grad opportunities as well as some exciting events on-campus and throughout the U.S. I'm excited to share an event I'm honored to have the chance to participate in by the Green Initiative at UAB (tonight eek!). My friend Rose has organized this panel featuring amazing students from all over the country. I had the chance to meet these folks (virtually) during the Udall Summer Retreat and am excited to learn from their varied and rich experiences connecting with place and people. Event Description: Join our interschool collaboration to discuss youth activism, environmental issues across disciplines and regions, and how students can be change agents in their communities. This event is organized by the undergraduate sustainability organization, Green Initiative, at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Any questions or concerns can be directed to Rose Albert (rosemalb@uab.edu). To learn more about our speakers and the event, please access the following link. One of the benefits of Zoom school is the ability to work with and coordinate across different universities. I hope you all have had the chance to attend and enjoy lots of fun virtual events this year. Again, reach out to me, the peer mentors, and other EVST staff & faculty anytime! SpringTake the March Climate Pledge | March is Yale Sustainability’s Health & Wellness Month! To encourage engagement with this ambition and personal commitment to inclusive and intersectional climate action, the Yale College Council (YCC), the Yale Student Environmental Coalition (YSEC), and the Yale Office of Sustainability & Sustainability Liaisons present the next Climate Action Pledge. We’re encouraging Yale students to take on a more active role in combating the climate crisis, with equity and justice in mind. Of course, this pledge does not aim to distract from the urgent need for sustained and powerful environmental reform at other levels: there is much more robust work to be done to combat climate change and environmental injustice. Still, every individual action makes a difference. Take the pledge here **5 PLEDGE-TAKERS WILL BE RANDOMLY SELECTED TO WIN A $15 SNACKPASS OR UBER EATS GIFT CARD** ‼️ ☀ Submit your feedback to the CFFIP!
