June 21, 2016 - McHenry, IL and New York, NY — Follett and Biblionasium announced today they are joining forces in an exclusive partnership with the goal of supporting the independent reading activities of students, ages 6 to 13. In August Follett’s market leading Destiny Library Manager will be seamlessly integrated with Biblionaisum’s award winning digital platform that connects young readers with their friends, teachers, librarians and parents in a safe and private space.
“Our integrated platform will immediately extend the reach of school libraries’ resources into the classroom and to the most important consumer of the resources – the students,” said Marjan Ghara, Founder and CEO of Biblionasium. “This integration was mainly driven by our mutual user communities, who wanted to connect the existing resources in their Destiny-managed school libraries to Biblionasium’s student-centric engaging digital platform.”
The chief benefits of the Follett-Biblionasium integration include:
- Single sign-on between the two platforms;
- Real-time information and access of library resources through Destiny;
- Actionable data for educators to guide and monitor effective student reading programs;
- Facilitate and promote the discovery of existing school library resources for students; and
- Real-time reports and data on student reading preferences and reading habits for school librarians to help with their collection planning.
For Follett, the partnership represents another step in its ongoing commitment to an “open approach to education,” helping to ensure teachers and students have access to resources where they need them and when they need them.
“This integration is a positive, powerful and safe way to engage young readers, plus help connect libraries and librarians with students and parents,” said Nader Qaimari, President, Follett School Solutions. “We’re honored to partner with Marjan Ghara and her team at Biblionasium, as they are passionate and committed to their mission of helping kids fall in love with reading.”
Biblionasium is an AASL-awarded “Best Websites for Teaching and Learning” and a COPPA-compliant digital platform that allows young readers to connect all their key constituents as well as to rate, review and recommend books within their trusted community. Biblionasium provides tools and resources to advance children’s literacy and foster their love of reading, Ghara said.
“Our goal is to instill the habit of reading and to raise a generation of passionate readers,” she stressed. “Many have labeled us as the ‘Goodreads for Kids’, but we go beyond the social, cataloging and recommendation aspects of Goodreads. We have added reading challenges, virtual rewards, online reading logs, and we also provide invaluable data and reports to educators and parents to support the children’s reading. We are very excited about our partnership with Follett because it will considerably enhance the way we assist librarians, teachers and the children we support.”
