Wow. Here we are, 10 years later.
To be specific, if you’re opening this at 11 am EDT on Sunday, then it’s been 10 years, 4 days, 20 hours, and 16 minutes from the first ever Reddit post (which, by the way, Steve immediately downvoted and gave me negative karma). In that time, users have cast 16 billion upvotes (and an additional 2.5 billion downvotes), commented 1.7 billion times, and made 200 million posts.
If we were a country, our current active users would make up the 8th largest population in the world, just after Nigeria and larger than Russia, Japan, and Mexico.
It’s been a wild, fun ride with tons of amazing stuff, so this week we’re taking a look back at some of the very best posts on Reddit. The story of this video starts with the most gilded comment on Reddit ever, which is this one from an AMA by TSM Bjergsen in the League of Legends community. But the reason it’s been gilded so much doesn’t have as much to do with that comment specifically, and more with this one: “If he gets 400 gildings I’ll eat a dick.”
And… it happened.
So 416 gildings for Arebel later, 3hoho5 did exactly as he promised, earning himself an additional 95 gildings. If there were a way to measure it, this would probably also win the top award on the site for “OP delivers,” though not for lack of dont_stop_me_smee’s trying to open the safe.

Turns out you guys REALLY like free things. When we ran the numbers to see what the most saved comments were, they took up a large number of the top 15 spots, but they were all on almost the exact same thing. So, without further ado, with 93,444 combined saves:
The next most saved comments, with 45,238 combined saves, were how to find PDF and eBook versions of your textbooks (r/trackers) and how to find PDF and eBook versions of your textbooks (r/askreddit).
Yup, DoubleDickDude is more famous than President Obama, with his AMA beating out Obama’s for the #1 most-viewed post on all of Reddit.

In an AMA that lasted more than 11 hours, DoubleDickDude provided photo proof, answered questions about the reactions he’s gotten from men and women (he’s bisexual), medical complications, which one is his favorite, his best sexual experience (it involves six other people), and more.
