Click here Welcome to the October 2017 edition of EECA's Efficient Products News Lighting MEPs - Supplementary PaperA Lighting Discussion Paper has recently been published by the E3 programme--this is a supplementary paper to a larger consultation document published in late 2016. These documents propose a Minimum Energy Performance standard (MEPS) for some LED lamps. Originally, there was a much broader scope proposed but this has been refined—for New Zealand, MEPS will be applied to LED lamps only at this time. We are keen to hear from all interested stakeholders about this lighting proposal. Feedback is due by COB Tuesday 10th October, to regs@eeca.govt.nz. Commercial building lighting densityEECA has started a project in response to feedback from New Zealand stakeholders around the effectiveness of lighting efficiency measures in the Building Code. The energy performance of lighting products would be improved by the current commercial building lighting density limits coming in to line with other international jurisdictions. We are looking at additional measures that we can adopt alongside the above mentioned MEPS, and are investigating the potential to update lighting density tables listed in NZS 4243:2007 (Energy Efficiency – Large Buildings): Part 2 – Lighting. EECA appreciates the time stakeholders have taken to make submissions and attend meetings. We would like to expand our stakeholder list to include organisations and people able to provide a variety of perspectives. Please email regs@eeca.govt.nz if you want to be on the list or have any comment. What's happening in compliance? We have been out and about talking to the air conditioning, hot water, commercial refrigeration, electric motor and compressor industries. If your industry wants to have a discussion with us, please email Mike Small mike.small@eeca.govt.nz The compliance spotlight is currently on non-complying or non-registered 3 phase electric motors within machinery, particularly motors incorporated machine. Energy Rating Label checksA heads up that spot checks are happening in stores over the next few months to make sure the Energy Rating Label is displayed correctly on appliances. Issues commonly found include obscured labels on dish washers and air conditioning units failing to display labels. Don’t forget—if your product has been registered in Australia, you need to know when the registration expires Quick online registrationWanting a quick guide to see what is required to complete an online registration? There's a quick guide on the E3 website. Brought to you by the Efficient Products Team at EECA. Contact us at regs@eeca.govt.nz or 0800 358 676 |
