Did You Know?

This is an image of a knooking hook. There is a crochet hook at one end and a darning needle eye at the opposite end.

Knooking is thought to have originated in Japan. Created by an occupational therapist, this knit/crochet technique allows for one-handed crafting and is an alternate technique for folks with limited mobility. Known in Japan as the Magic Needle, this hook/needle tool arrived in America had the name Knooking dubbed over it's original name. Interest in this technique has been growing over the past ten years. Check out the library's copy of Get Knooking or search for ideas and patterns through Ravlery's website.

Charity Knitting Projects

This is an image of three knitted newborn baby hats in white, light blue and dark blue.

We'd like turn our charity knitting efforts towards the Guelph General Hospital for the next few months. If you'd like to knit newborn baby hats for the birthing unit or tackle a larger project by making a blanket for the oncology unit, either would be graciously received at the Bullfrog Mall Branch. Please remember the blankets need to be about 3.5' by 5.5'.

Visit the Guelph Public Library's Bullfrog Branch at 380 Eramosa Road in Guelph, ON for more information about the library's knitting resources.
