Identifying and responding to the abuse of older people Every year, one in twenty older people in our community experience abuse at the hands of people they know and trust. Only one in five of these cases is identified and reported. CESPHN was recently involved in a seminar to increase awareness around this complex issue. Launch of NewAccess On the 27th of October, CESPHN was a part of the launch of NewAccess alongside beyondblue and Bolton Clarke. NewAccess is a free service that has been funded by CESPHN, developed by beyondblue and is being delivered by Bolton Clarke. It aims to help those with mild to moderate mental health challenges. Partnerships workshop This October, CESPHN held a Partnerships workshop attended by many of the organisations and people we partner with. In attendance were a diverse group of close to 70 people including consumers, local NGOs, GPs, allied health professionals, local health district and network, university and private health insurance representatives together with approximately 25 staff. Launch of Head to Health The Australian Government has recently launched an exciting new digital mental health gateway, Head to Health. Head to Health is a website that makes it easier for people to access free or low cost Australian digital mental health services. It has been developed in collaboration with people with mental illness and their carers, the community, mental health professionals and digital service providers, and underwent extensive testing with users. Multicultural Care information session Multicultural Care is hosting a number of information sessions on NDIS and Disability Support Services throughout November. These sessions will be delivered in three languages - Arabic, Chinese and Vietnamese.
