Hi There -
Oscar Wilde once said, "I am so clever that sometimes I don't understand a single word of what I am saying." This has never been as true as I write my first iteration of The Squeal! As we march through the end of the bitter cold and toward an exciting season together, it's time to break out the summer tires, put the tops down, and get excited for another fantastic year of #FunWithCars.

Note from the (Oh Crap... I'm the Acting) RE
To say these past few weeks have been a little challenging and crazy for me, could be deemed as quite an understatement. As Kristen took a break from her SCCA duties to focus on herself and her family, I became the “acting” RE. I can say that there is so much that goes into keeping things within the club working and running, and I give her credit for the amazing job that she’s been doing. I look forward to her swift return to come back into the fray. I sure hope she comes back before April’s membership meeting, because I’m getting surgery on my hand that day. So, God forbid she doesn’t come back, you should come to the meeting to watch me drooling on myself, trying to run the meeting while recovering from surgery.
Just when you thought you were rid of me…

SCCA National isn’t going to send us a printed copy of the Rule Book this year - so if you’re interested in having a copy, please click the link here for the complete guide. We will have copies available on the Club iPads at the events, but this is definitely a handy PDF to have!
Our Season has Officially Started!
Let’s congratulate the Rallycross Program on their first event at their new venue - Spooky Nook! They successfully held their 3rd Annual Rallycross School/TNT event on Saturday the 13th, and their first Points Event on Sunday the 14th.
Susquehanna Region SCCA Autocross School

We will once again be hosting a novice autocross school at the Carlisle fairgrounds. This event was very well received last year, and Carlisle Events has graciously agreed to let us do it again this year.
This even will be catered to complete novices to autocross. The goal of this school is to help people that are interested in the sport feel more comfortable on course. This is a non-competition environment so students will be able to focus on the proper techniques for vehicle control.
I want to stress that this is a non-competition event meant to help educate new and potentially new autocrossers.
This event will be held on May 25th at the Carlisle Fairgrounds. Lunch will be provided. And there will be plenty of fun for both students and instructors!

Thanks to NEPA Region - our 2019 Autocross season is going to start in June this year! They have invited us to join them in their 6th Annual NEPASCCA Regional at Pocono Raceway. This will count for 2 more points events, bringing our season to a total of 9 points events (so far). Our current schedule is listed below.

RallyCross Event #1 Success!

RallyCross had a strong season opener last weekend, starting off with our annual RallyCross school, followed by the first of six points events. The Saturday school consisted of a “classroom” portion followed by a variety of drills with a concurrent test and tune course. Later in the afternoon everyone moved to the test and tune course to employ the skills they just learned.
On Sunday, new and familiar faces were treated to six runs in some very challenging conditions. The soil at the new Spooky Nook must have a high clay content, combined with the spring rains, prompted some to liken it to driving on modeling clay.
The second points event in the series is scheduled for May 11th at the Elmerton lot in Harrisburg.
Susquehanna’s TRSS Preparations

We’ve secured a date for our second Tire Rack Street Survival, scheduled for Saturday, July 20th. The sanctions are in, and the event is officially live! We already have 8 students signed up, so I’m very hopeful for us to have a sold-out school this year!

If you weren’t a coach at the last event, and you’re interested to coach this year, please click the link below to become a coach! It only takes about 45 minutes to get certified. Please make sure you email me a copy of your certificate when you send it to Tim Beechuk at Street Survival.

National Motorsports Coalition Meets Capitol Hill Lawmakers
APR 19, 2019 — Representatives from IMSA, IndyCar, NASCAR, NHRA, SCCA and USAC traveled to Washington, D.C., last week to meet with Congress, highlight the impact of the motorsports industry across the country and to encourage support for the Motorsports Fairness and Permanency Act.
Stout F4 U.S. Field Invades Road Atlanta for Season Debut
APR 16, 2019 — After setting a world-record for the largest average F4 fields in 2018, the Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda returns to Road Atlanta April 18-20 for its season opener with a strong 24-car lineup filled with returning veterans and talented rookies.

APR 9, 2019 — The race season is rapidly approaching and in some areas it’s already begun. If you haven’t already, now is the time to start re-prep on your car to make sure it’s safe and ready for the upcoming race season!
