VICNISS Surveillance Manual update 2019 The VICNISS Surveillance Manual has also been updated and changes will go into effect from 1st July 2019. SSI module – Upload Portal Further to our recent correspondence regarding changes to the SSI module and the upload portal, there is a testing website with the changes applied at UAT.vicniss.org.au. You can test your new data file format by uploading to this site. You may have to register as a hospital user. NOTE: This is for TESTING only. Any data uploaded to this website will be removed in the future. Educational Webinars VICNISS recently ran a series of educational webinars to assist you in managing and submitting your surveillance data If you were unable to watch a session live, these modules have been recorded and are available on the VICNISS website for viewing as well as the PowerPoint presentations. Simply go to the module you wish to review and scroll down the page and look under EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES, or click on the link below.2019 Aged Care National Antimicrobial Prescribing Survey The official data collection and submission time frame for this year’s AC NAPS is June 1st to August 31st. The User Guide and simplified data collection forms can be accessed via the NAPS website (Aged Care NAPS/ Resources).The USA Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality has published a helpful Nursing Home Antimicrobial Stewardship Guide. This guide provides toolkits that may assist your aged care home(s) optimize their use of antimicrobials. Surveillance Plan & Performance Indicators A reminder that your annual surveillance plan submission due date is 30th June.The 2019-2020 Performance Indicators are still subject to ministerial approval however it is likely there will be no changes to requirements from 2018-2019 except: · If more than 50 colorectal procedures are performed annually, data must be collected for any six month period · If more than 400 births are managed annually, Caesarean Section data must be collected for any six month period · All ‘Small’ Victorian public hospitals (< 100 beds) are required to complete a point prevalence survey (PPS) each year. The HCW Hepatitis Immunity module is the PPS for the 2019 to 2020 surveillance year. Small hospitals will need to add this module to their surveillance plan, indicating one month in which to submit the data. Gold Standard Auditor Training The next Gold Standard Auditor Training Workshop will be held at Maroondah Hospital, Ringwood East on the 14th & 15th October 2019.
