From the Editor's Desk

Hi, there —

After my trip to Nationals, with 40+ hours in the car in one week, and immediately participating in our September Farm Show Autoross event, it's pretty safe to say that I had an eventful September.  Going to Nationals is an experience like no other.  If you take our events of ~100 racers, and multiply that by 13, you get Nationals.  The Airport in Lincoln, NE is an enormous site; from vendors, a practice course with 2 grids, 2 competition courses, each with two grids, and so much more...there is a lot to explore!  The experience of the drivers and the vast array of vehicles that I got to see in one week, was truly spectacular!  I'd like to take a minute to Congratulate the Susquehanna members who participated in the events: Allen Kugler, Denise Kugler, Dennis Latshaw, Derek Latshaw, and Rob Springer.  Allen, Denise and Rob all brought home trophies for our region, while Dennis and Derek placed extremely well for having a car that was massively outclassed in CP!  I would especially like to congratulate Rob Springer, my co-driver, for doing an amazing job in a very large class this year.  You made me and the MR2 proud!

Equipment Overhaul with the Club's New U-Haul

by Markus Houser

We currently have a 68 Chevy step van that ASCC got in 2000.  Two years later, we made improvements to it with a blue and white paint job and a desk inside for timing.  Then it needed a new engine, clutch, battery and exhaust manifold.  The truck has worked for us to store equipment used for events and for timing and control.  It is almost 50 years old and is time to replace it.  We have purchased a 2006 Ford 17’ box truck from UHaul as a replacement.  It will be getting our logo on the sides by SSC-Tint and shelving put in the back.

Final 2017 Autocross Event & September Recap

It's sad to say that we had our last doubleheader event at Farm Show for the year, but we still have one final event of the year to look forward to.  We'll return for one last event at the Hershey Park lot the the weekend of October 28 & 29.

The results from our last event are below, along with the registration links for the upcoming October Hershey Park events.  The Hershey event fills up quickly, so make sure you register before it's too late!

The Other RallyCross Machine

by John Roscinski

Everybody knows that maintenance is crucial to keeping your race car is good running order, and the same can be said for our RallyCross program. The growth of our program is outpacing our ability to maintain it, so we are looking to add a few mechanics to the crew.

We are in need of dedicated people to help with day-of-event setup, timing & scoring, and tech inspection.  We can also accommodate you if you'd like to volunteer your talents as a course designer/course setup.

If any of these positions have piqued your interest and you'd like to lend a hand, send us a note at rallycross@scca-susq.com
