No images? Click here Almost time! With only a day or so until the beginning of Welcome Week, we wanted to chat about wellbeing. At Wentworth College, we offer workshops and seminars to complement the academic work you are doing and develop your skills. We also aim to develop your understanding of how to manage your own wellbeing. If you need further support we can offer coaching sessions, and signpost you to other services that might be beneficial such as the University's Open Door Team (counselling service). If you think you might need some extra support when you arrive, maybe with something you have not told the University about yet, then please contact the college, so that we can discuss your options. You can also inform us through the pre-arrival survey. Arrivals dayWe are looking forward to meeting you and want to reassure you that the health and safety of our staff and students is our top priority. During arrivals please make sure you:
Note: If you or anyone you currently live with has Covid-19 symptoms, please follow government self-isolation guidelines and do not come to campus until it is safe to do so. Welcome week activities and inductionYou and the people that you live with are classed as a 'household', that's the people you share a flat, house or allocated kitchen and bathrooms with. You don't need to wear a mask or keep your distance when you're in your household. But when you take part in activities on campus or in the city with people outside your household, try to keep two metres away from them. If that is not possible, stay at least one metre away and take other steps to reduce risk such as wearing a face covering. You may have heard all sorts of information about your GSA welcome week so far. The Wentworth College Welcome runs alongside the GSA events and we offer smaller, focused events to help get you settled and ready for your new career as a Postgraduate student. Please sign up to our free events and take a tour of the website to see what is on offer at Wentworth during the first few weeks of your term. There is a lot to do during welcome week. We have some online and in person activities including a York Art Gallery Tour and a boat trip along the river Ouse! Check out our events page for details. If you will be living in Wentworth College, you might find it helpful to explore our FAQs. York prides itself on being a community built on respect. The online induction explains our community values, what you can expect from the University and what the University expects from you. And while you are thinking about the upcoming year, our Provost, Russell Yates, has recorded a message of welcome for you. Stay smart, supportive and safeLots of work has gone into making our campus and facilities covid-secure, but every one of us has a role to play in keeping ourselves and those around us as safe as possible. We're asking all staff and students to: Stay smart by taking responsibility to understand and keep up-to-date with the safety guidance. Stay supportive by looking after ourselves and each other, to collectively help support a safe community for us all. Stay safe by taking the steps detailed on this page including self-isolating and filling in our form if you have symptoms. You can learn more about how you can stay smart, supportive and safe on the Coronavirus (Covid-19) web pages. One last thingDue to Covid-19, bus services to the University and between campuses will be operating with reduced capacity. If you already own a bicycle, you might want to think about bringing it to campus with you. There’s secure cycle parking close to all main buildings and we also have free-to-use bike pumps.
