Tourism businesses in The Coromandel fared pretty well over the past two years thanks to domestic travellers and regular visitors, but please do get in touch if you would like to renew some contacts. We were disappointed to hear that the 360 Discovery Ferry is not able to reinstate its seasonal service from downtown Auckland to Coromandel Town this summer but we are fortunate that regional road services do connect. One of our popular hiking trails, The Windows Walkway in the Karangahake Gorge (see image above) is closed for the next two months while Department of Conservation contractors repair the track. Other walks in the gorge including the Karangahake Gorge Historic Walkway are still open to explore this dramatic valley with its tunnels, bridges and relics of our goldmining past.
