Start with Human PracticesChoosing what to work on this summer?Begin by thinking about Human Practices. Human Practices at iGEM is about understanding which problems synthetic biology can help solve, and exploring the impacts of your project on the world.

Is your project safe, responsible and good for the world?Winning teams consider these questions upfront and throughout their entire project. This integrated approach is part of designing a successful project and essential to being an engineer.
iGEM teams have inspired the way that synthetic biology is practiced locally and globally. Through their Human Practices efforts, teams have adapted their projects to be responsive to their communities’ needs, and informed policies through forums like the United Nations. How can you get started? Visit the
Human Practices hub, watch the introductory video, and check out resources, exemplary projects, and tips for how to succeed in the competition.
