Important information for GPs - Vaginal mesh implants
There have recently been media reports relating to adverse events experienced by some women who have undergone mesh surgery for pelvic organ prolapse or stress urinary incontinence. In response to this matter and upon advice from expert clinicians, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital has established a dedicated multidisciplinary clinic to care for women who are experiencing symptoms or complications and particularly chronic pain. To assist GPs, SLHD are welcoming any referrals for patients GPs may be concerned about. SLHD are also available to assist women who have any questions or concerns, or would like more information regarding these mesh implants. Calls from GPs or concerned patients can be directed to Ms Milorose Felipe, Clinical Nurse Consultant Benign Gynaecology, RPA, on 9515 4526 or 0459 899 735. Milorose will coordinate the necessary care and advice. If assistance is required out of hours, the RPA Executive on-call can be contacted through RPA switch on 9515 6111. Further information is available on the
SLHD website which will be updated as new information becomes available.
Support for your GP registrars
Our Practice Support Team offers support to GP registrars whilst they are on rotation in general practice. Support can include an orientation visit from the PHN, covering our website, programs and local health services, or general phone and email support. Past visits to GP registrars have been very useful, especially as they rotate six monthly from region to region. If you have a GP registrar/s that you think might benefit from this support, please contact CESPHN Practice Support and Digital Health Program Officer, Jan Sadler on 9330 9926 or email
