Monthly Newsletter | September 2019

Hello WIT@UCSF Members!

We have lots of exciting news to share with you this month! First, please welcome Sarah Ngo to the WIT leadership team. Sarah is a program manager with Division of Geriatrics and is stepping in for Alyssa Tecklenburg, who has officially started her part-time graduate program (she'll still be in her role at UCSF while in school). Fortunately, Alyssa will still be involved through October as our proposal for Sharecase was accepted!

Yes, you read right, our Sharecase proposal was indeed accepted! As a refresher, our Sharecase proposal was to organize a panel with the goal of getting a diverse set of views and experiences. Our current panelists are to be confirmed and topics will include 1) decision-making in technology as it relates to diversity and inclusion, 2) the ever-evolving tech landscape and how it affects under-represented people in the field, and 3) recruitment, career development, and retention of under-represented people in technology roles. Please send us questions you would like us to incorporate. Immediately following, we will be hosting a mixer so please stay after the panel to continue the conversation and meet more like-minded folks. We could use your help for the event to set up the mixer and station our booth. Let us know if you'd be willing!

Send us your questions or volunteer for the event!

Lastly, if you have a topic you would like to present on, we'd love to hear from you! Past sessions were about our UCSF Library services and on DIY workflow automations. By sharing our strengths and best practices with each other, we can build a stronger WIT-ty community. Where do we get the power in "Power On!"? From you! Shoot us a message to coordinate.

Email us your topic ideas!

Until next month...

Power on!
