MESSAGES

A WORD FROM JASON REDMAN

Hello Team,

Great to be touching base with you all again.  It has been an eventful month within the tower crane industry.  A few things I will discuss include:

- NO Cradling Loads
- New Internal Climbing System
- Long Longs - Leading the Industry in Safety
- Reporting / Action on Safety
- Farewell

No Cradling Loads
I would like you to review the below photos demonstrating how to sling a load.  I have visited various sites and witnessed some companies still cradling loads.  This is a 'no go' in the Reds Global team.  It is a dangerous practice and we do not allow this for a very good reason.

Always position a bite on the load and ensure that your chains or slings have the capacity to complete the task safely.  Dunnage or rubber should be positioned under the chains or slings to prevent damage to suspended load.  REMEMBER, we lift it, we own it.

New Internal Climbing System
Reds Global have invested in a new 268T jack up capacity, 1.9m internal climbing system for tight spaces.  It is exciting to supply this system to Richard Crookes Constructions on the Miller Street, North Sydney project.

We have invested in this product for our clients to ensure they have minimal space taken up on their projects and to maximise the effective climbing time.

Long Longs - Leading the Industry in Safety
Reds Global have invested in long shirts and long pants for your safety, not your discomfort.  I want to assure you that your feedback in regards to the heat has been taken into consideration.  At present the lightest, toughest materials currently in the market are being reviewed and will be selected for the summer clothing issue.  It has been decided that the shirt colour will change to orange.

Reporting / Action on Safety
The office is always open for team members to give updates or information that could assist Reds Global to be the safest and leading company in the market.

Feedback is always welcome.  It is particularly valuable to receive feedback from team members as this is the best way to improve daily practices.  I encourage you to look for safer ways of doing tasks and report any changes you feel can make a difference.

We have recently undergone our yearly ISO accreditation audit which reviews records.  Holding the ISO accreditation strengthens our commitment to safety.

Please contact James: 0448 515 185 / james@redsglobal.com or Rachel: 0430 168 875 / rachel@redsglobal.com to provide feedback.

Farewell
Some of you may be aware Simon Hughes from the rigging crew will be saying farewell to Reds Global this week.  Simon has made a massive impact to our team.  I hope we see him again soon.  Thank you so much for your contribution Simon.  I will brush up on my Chess before you return next.

Once again, great big thanks to all our team at Reds Global.

A WORD FROM DAVID BROWN

Welcome to the end of winter newsletter and to the end of the cold mornings.  We trust you and your families are all well and looking forward to the warmer days.

I have a fortunate position within Reds Global to oversee works and to assist on site with all of the installations and dismantles of our tower cranes.

I want to share with you how impressed I was by the exceptional state of a tower crane that we dismantled on Saturday, 26th August and with the crew on the tower crane that assisted us on site.

The guys demonstrated to our rigging team, some wonderful values. These are: comraderie, respect, teamwork and safety. Awesome work guys.

We would like to have more time to tell you all more often the amazing jobs that you guys do on site and I will use this opportunity to do so, thank you.

On the other end of the spectrum, we had a very arduous job last week that entailed us removing the hook blocks and the complete hoist rope from one of our tower cranes following an event that is still being investigated.

Having spent the day working on the jib of a tower crane assessing the damage and finding solutions to repair the tower crane and return it to service, I found it unfathomable to think that an incident like two blocking a tower crane could happen to an operator working for Reds Global.

This incident could have been so much worse than the $100k repair that we are faced with. It could have easily resulted to someone getting badly injured or even worse.  This is a timely reminder that we all must be diligent on site and we must use our training.

Once we close the investigations out on this incident, we will ensure that we learn from it. Team members should constantly educate each other to prevent these types of incidents from happening in future.

We can work safe, we can work smart and we cannot walk past something that we can see is wrong. If you walk past it, you accept it.

Please keep up the great work that you are doing on site and if we can assist you with any PPE, information or additional training please let us know.

We are a team, a great team. We are Reds Global.

Remember to give that extra 10%, its the difference between ordinary and extraordinary.

Thank you

REDS GLOBAL UPDATES

I hope everyone is well and keeping warm as we end winter for another year.  There are a lot of updates to report in this month's edition.

WEBSITE CHANGE / UPDATE
We now have the ability to post updates on the Reds Global website.  There is section titled 'News' that you can view and all the updates will be made available to you.

INTERNAL CLIMBER
As Jason mentioned in his message for this month we have purchased an internal climbing system.  This will benefit our clients in completing their projects on time and cost effectively.

MOVE TO LACE UP BOOTS
There are some sites that require lace up boots to be worn due to site conditions and rules.  It has been decided to gradually move to lace up boots for all sites to keep up with client requests.

Please ensure the next time you purchase boots you consider this change and ensure that you get lace ups.  This will happen over some time so don't worry if you have just purchased new boots and they are not lace up.  Just ensure you make the switch with your next order.  It would be greatly appreciated if you could spread the word to all team members.

CONGRATULATIONS WARREN WALTIS
Congratulations to Wazza and his lovely family on the birth of their baby girl Riley.  Love the jumpsuit Wazza.  All the best to you and the family.
