How You Can Help Puerto Rico Hospital Employees
Shayna Diamond, Director of Community Affairs

While the full extent of the devastation from Hurricanes Irma and Maria on Puerto Rico is still unfolding, it is clear that the island has sustained historic damage from which it will likely take years to recover. Power, water, supplies, fuel, phone lines and cellular towers have affected most of the island and the magnitude of the devastation cannot be overstated. During the storms and in their ongoing aftermath, the women and men of Puerto Rico’s hospitals have worked tirelessly to care for others, even while their own families were in harm’s way. The Care Fund has been established to provide support to hospital employees in Puerto Rico affected by the storms. All administrative services are being provided in kind so that 100 percent of your donation will be used to assist hospital employees. For questions, please send an e-mail or call (202) 626-2672.

Point of Pride: United Blood Services

The horrific shooting in Las Vegas sent hundreds of individuals to hospitals across southern Nevada. In times of an emergency, it is crucial to be prepared. Earlier this week, United Blood Services sent more than 200 units of blood and blood components to support the transfusion needs of these patients. Fortunately, United Blood Services was able to meet the blood needs because of their continuous efforts to promote blood donation. But the need wont end. United Blood Services strongly encourages donors to schedule a donation appointment by calling 877-UBS-HERO (877-827-4376) or by visiting their website.
