The Season's First ResultsThe end of April has seen the return to competitive fixtures for most teams and across all the sections – Men's, Women's and Youth. MEN’S Our Men’s 1st XI started the season with a friendly against Horspath CC on Saturday 17th April. Oxford batted first and scored 194-5, then bowled Horspath out for 146 to win by 48 runs. This was followed by a double header against Challow and Childrey CC on Saturday 24th April and thanks to a storming 204 by captain Muhammed Ayub, they won by 188 runs. The 2nd XI, who became the first side to use our new scorebox at Jordan Hill this season, also recorded a win against the Challow 2nd XI in a high scoring game. Oxford 2nds batted first and scored 314 from 45 overs. In reply, Challow 2nds scored 302 from their 45 overs. It was a shame that due to current COVID guidelines, spectators were not able to watch this high scoring game. WOMEN’S The 1st XI lost to Charlbury on Sunday in a low scoring game in the T20 Vitality competition and now await details of their next game in the Plate competition. Numbers at Tuesday training are most encouraging averaging 20. The 2nd of May sees the start of the Home Counties Women’s Cricket League (HCWCL) Super 8 fixtures. YOUTH Our U11’s started their season well with wins against Bicester and North Oxford CC for the 11 a side team and the U11’s Super 8’s also comfortably won their match against Abingdon Vale. Our U15 boy’s team came up against some tough opposition in their season opener against Kingston Baqpuize losing by 6 wickets. The U13 and U15 girls’ teams are looking forward to Sunday May 2nd which sees the first Lady Taverners' fixtures.
