Rehabilitation plan under development for Historic Route 66 Ribbon RoadOttawa County District 3 is home to a piece of Route 66 history: According to theroute-66.com, Ottawa County is home to the only remaining 9-foot wide segment of the entire highway. This "Ribbon Road" was completed in 1922, which means it predates the Mother Road by four years. It has a five-inch concrete base, concrete edges, and a two-inch thick layer of Topeka asphalt. GUY Engineering is working with Ottawa County District 3 Commissioner Russell Earls to establish a Historic Structure Record and a rehabilitation plan for Historic Route 66 Ribbon Road. We are honored to be part of preserving this important piece of Oklahoma and US history. The white lines in this photo are the original concrete edges of the Ribbon Road. Guess the bridge...Last month's bridge was the Ford Island Bridge in Hawaii at Pearl Harbor. We're heading over a different ocean now! Any guesses what European country this bridge is located in?
