A criminal gang manufacturing fake documents including CSCS cards has been broken up and its ringleaders sentenced to over 3 years imprisonment. This case highlights the need for employers to be vigilant when checking CSCS cards. The most efficient way to do this is to check the cards electronically. Read more

CSCS is notifying the industry that blasting occupations are being transferred to the Blasting Competency Scheme (BCS). BCS is run by the Mineral Products Qualifications Council (MPQC). Read more

CSCS has been working closely with the Asbestos sector and has agreed that from 31st March 2018 CSCS will no longer issue cards for Asbestos Removal Operatives, Analysts/Surveyors, Asbestos Supervisors and Asbestos Contract Managers. Read more

Two new routes have been created to give welders the option to apply for a SAFed card bearing the CSCS logo. The WQIC and Zurich Engineering assessment routes have been accepted as alternatives to an NVQ level 2, meaning that welders assessed by WQIC or Zurich Engineering will be eligible for a SAFed card. Following confirmation that Microsoft are ending their support for Windows phones, CSCS is withdrawing the Go Smart app for Windows phones. From the end of September 2018 CSCS will cease to release new versions of Go Smart for windows phones and tablet devices. Read more
