Various times and dates in the month of October Annual Research Data ColloquiumThe annual UCSF Research Data Colloquium is offered as “Research Data Series” via Zoom, to share UCSF’s rich offerings for research data resources. These live Zoom sessions will also be recorded and available for later online on-demand viewing. Various times and dates in the month of October Unlearning Anti-Blackness in the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Communities with Dr. Kim TranKim Tran, PhD will present a webinar to provide participants with in-depth relevant knowledge about Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) and Black American solidarity and history of antagonism in order to build tools to create belonging. Tuesday, October 13: noon-1pm Intro to SQLThis course will provide an introduction to SQL, the structured query language used to access relational databases. In this workshop, you'll learn how to import data into a database, run queries, filter results, aggregate data, and join multiple tables based on a common element. Friday, October 16: 9-11am Introduction to JSON and PythonThis course is intended as a follow up to basic Python, Pandas, and SQL. In addition to reviewing web services, REST, and JSON, this workshop will teach participants how to traverse a tree structure and convert it to other data structures, such as a tabular dataframe, prior to analysis. Friday, October 23: 9am-noon Other UC Events Virtual UC Cyber Security SummitRegistration for the tenth biannual UC Cyber Security Summit on October 14, 2020, is now open! Wednesday, October 14 UC IT Town HallSave the date for the next UC IT Town Hall. The featured speaker is Eugene Whitlock, UC Berkeley chief people and culture officer, and assistant vice chancellor for Human Resources. He will talk about how to cultivate inclusion and belonging – even during a pandemic. Monday, October 19: 2:30-3:30pm Call for Nomination: WITI@UC Athena AwardsThe WITI@UC Athena Awards recognize those who embody, encourage, and promote the inclusion of women in technology. Awardees are leaders who inspire others to pursue and persist in technical careers by way of their outstanding contributions, and service and mentorship to foster inclusion in science and technical fields.
