Member Spotlight: Justin Peachey

At the time of writing this on Monday, Justin Peachey is still on his way back from an epic weekend in Bowling Greene, KY. He leaves for the UMI teamcross event Thursday -- hardly any time to bask in the greatness that he achieved this past weekend and the SCCA Time Trial Nationals. He arrived on Day 1 by himself and immediately proceeded to rebuild his front splitter in true Justin fashion, a saw and some plywood in the parking lot. Is it crude, possibly? Does it work? After day one, Justin was leading the M1 class and in the top 5 overall. But disaster struck in the form of a slave cylinder going out. For most people that would end their weekend, for a lot of amateur and professional race teams that can also end their weekend. So, with sleep on the back burner, Justin drove several hours away and wrenched through the night to make the fix and say in contention. Did he succeed? Keep reading.
Day 2 almost sounds redundant to say but given the adversity he already faced, Justin once again took first place in M1 and second place overall on the north course of the track.
On the final day, with track conditions near perfect, our local hotshoe didn't hold back. He not only took first in place for the day by nearly two seconds, set a M1 class track record, took home the Hagerty Keepin' It Cool Award, an invitation to the Grassroot Motorsports Ultimate Track Car race, and took first place in MAX 1 securing a national championship win. When I asked him if he had time to sit down for an interview and the very least I could do was by him a beer, he said "this week is going to be rough". As the car still isn't 100% and more racing is on the horizon. But I felt that at the very minimum his story should be shared as an incredible humble driver from Manheim, PA, that we know more as an autocrosser just won time trial nationals.

Our next meeting will be held on the second floor at Appalachian Brewing Company, 50 N. Cameron Street, Harrisburg, PA 17101. All members are encouraged to attend. Come an hour early for dinner (and a drink) with other members.
As of our April meeting, ABC has their upstairs bar area open for us to eat and hold our meeting. Make sure that you tell the host that you are attending the SCCA meeting, and they will direct you upstairs.

Back To The Future with Chip Herr
JUN 18, 2021 — Ever wonder what happened to your old, favorite race car? If you wait long enough, it just might come back to you.
Chip Herr’s STaSIS Engineering Audi A4 won four races in 2006 and 2007 in SPEED World Challenge Touring Car in an era when the SCCA Pro Racing-sanctioned series was arguably the top Touring Car championship in the world. A race win in that period included wins over Peter Cunningham, Pierre Kleinubing, Brandon Davis and Eric Curran in Acuras, Bill Auberlen and Joey Hand in BMWs, Randy Pobst and Jeff Altenburg in Mazdas, just to name a few. One driver to a car, no pit stops, sprint races – it lived up to its “This is How Racing Should Be” tag line spoken in the late Tom Hnatiw’s booming voice in every way.
Time Trials Nationals 2021: The Results
JUN 13, 2021 — The fourth annual Tire Rack SCCA Time Trials Nationals Powered by Hagerty came to a close Sunday afternoon with the KONI Podium Celebration at NCM Motorsports Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The top-three finishers were lauded in each of 18 car classes. But first, let’s look at some of the other awards and honors doled out.
Line Up For The Pennsylvania Hillclimb Association Season
MAY 28, 2021 — Earlier in May, you may have seen some stories about the recent Pine Mountain HillClimb at SCCA.com or GrassrootsMotorsports.com. It was an amazing event that combined the strengths of three different SCCA Regions to pull off. If you saw media coverage from that weekend, you may have thought to yourself, “Darn, I’m sorry I missed that.” If that’s the case, the list below of upcoming HillClimb dates will be of great interest to you!
Your Club Is Calling: How to Join the SCCA Board of Directors
MAY 25, 2021 — Road America is unequivocally breathtakingly. Boasting a 4.048-mile, 14-corner racetrack meandering uphill and down through some 640 acres of farmland nestled into southeastern Wisconsin's magnificent state forest that’s also within shouting distance of the quaint vacation community of Elkhart Lake (pop. 1,018), SCCA members were energized when it was announced that the National Championship Runoffs would take to this historic circuit once more. And now, with Oct. 3-11 soon upon us – and following a seven-year Runoffs absence from this particular track – the Runoffs’ return to the Kettle Moraine is nearly upon us.
