CYCLING FORUM

A 14-person panel has been endorsed by Council to take part in Mitchell Shire Council's first Community Cycling Consultative Forum.

It is hoped the forums will help us better understand what is likely to get people cycling more in our region.

TAKING SHAPE $2.5m sports hub on the way
 

Netball and tennis clubs in Broadford will soon be able to enjoy the benefits of the revamped Harley Hammond Reserve with a $2.5 million upgrade under way including new shared courts, competition standard lights and a shared-used pavilion.

Mitchell Shire Council is providing $2 million, with $500,000 from the Victorian Government through Sport and Recreation Victoria’s Female Friendly Facilities Fund. The Harley Hammond Reserve Committee of Management is also contributing nearly $14,000 to the project.

NEW FOOTPATHS Connecting missing links
 

Pedestrians will now be able to walk the full length of Villers Street, Seymour, to the High Street pathway.

The a new 1.5 metre footpath, stretching 60 metres where there was no linking footpath, is now complete. The $20,000 project was fully funded by Council.

Works to install a $126,000 footpath on Melbourne Street, Kilmore, between Union and Burke streets, will begin the week of Monday 8 March, weather permitting.

PET REGISTRATIONS Help us keep your fur babies safe
 

Pet registration renewals will be arriving soon and are due 10 April.

Make sure your pets are registered and your details correct, so if your fur baby gets lost, we can get them home as quickly as possible.

Remember, cats and dogs, 3 months of age or older, must be microchipped and registered with Council.

There’s not long left for you to get organised for Clean Up Australia Day, which will be held on 7 March.

If your community group, school or local business wants to register an event, we suggest you hop to it.

REUSE SHOP OPEN Recycle unwanted household items
 

Our Reuse Shop at the Wallan Resource Recovery Centre will be open from 11am to 3pm on Saturday 27 February.

The shop resells many household items that can still be used such as furniture, toys, books, records, CDs, gardening items and baby furniture.

The Reuse Shop will continue to open monthly - keep an eye out for opening times on our website.

PUBLIC SAFETY Has project been a success?
 

We're looking for input on the public safety infrastructure in Broadford.

Two years ago, you told us installing CCTV (cameras) and lighting would help you feel safer in the Broadford Community Precinct and reduce levels of graffiti, vandalism, anti-social behaviour and crime.

Now the CCTV and lighting towers have been installed, we want to know if you think the project has increased feelings of safety.

Submissions close 9am, Monday 22 March.

RURAL LAND REVIEW Have your say on future land use
 

Council has prepared the Draft Rural Land and Activities Review and has begun the Landscape Assessment Study.

We’re seeking community input on the future of our rural land, small townships and landscape policy.

Drop-in sessions are being held in Clonbinane, Pyalong, Reedy Creek, Tallarook and Tooborac.

Submissions and feedback are invited until 9am, Monday 29 March.

We're seeking input on our draft COVID-19 Recovery Plan with an impact analysis and priority areas to support activities and planning on community, organisations, local government and other wanting to contribute to the community's recovery.

SATISFACTION SURVEY Phone surveys underway
 

If you live in Mitchell Shire, you may receive a phone call from National Field Services for the annual Community Satisfaction Survey over the next few weeks.

The survey asks people to rate the performance of Council across a number of service areas. The information you provide helps us identify trends and improvement opportunities across the shire.
