Dear Sweet Child: The TalkBy Chiamaka OkaforThis piece navigates the conversation between a Black mother and her child, preparing them for a world in which the color of their skin determines their worth.
Your generous support helped build out our innovative Collaboratory, Girls Write Now's centralized home for writing, mentoring, and community—allowing more accessibility, hands-on learning, and the ability to scale to fulfill growing demand.
The Collaboratory also enables our diverse, multi-generational community to meet wide-ranging passions, schedules, and goals on Journeys like Lead Community Change, Advocacy Journalism, Investigative Podcasts, Perspectives on Public Policy, and so many more.
The result? Our writers are empowered with the social-emotional, intellectal, and professional skills to be successful in school, career, and life.
Thank you! We couldn't do this without you.
