From the Editor's Desk — Special Annual Meeting

Hi, there — 

Susquehanna Region saw a very successful close of it's 2016 autocross season since the last issue of The Squeal, but there's still one more event you should attend. It's our special annual membership meeting, held this coming Tuesday, November 22. I reported in the last issue that we would be allowing online voting this year. Unfortunately, our current bylaws state that only members in attendance at the annual meeting can vote, so we hope to see you there! 

Nominations were accepted at the October meeting, but will also be accepted in advance of the vote during Tuesday's annual meeting. Below are the current nominees: 

• Director: Bryan Roper, Markus Houser
• Secretary: Brian Holmes
• Treasurer: Alan Lesher
• Assistant Regional Executive: Doug Austin
• Regional Executive: Kristen Poole

An overview of the responsibilities of each position can be found on page two of our bylaws, and all the details on the meeting can be found directly below. 

We're also gearing up for our end-of-year banquet in January — which always proves to be a great time — so keep your eyes peeled for more details on that in the near future.

November Regional Meeting

Tuesday, November 22 • 7:30 p.m.
Our next meeting will be held in the private dining room at Gilligan's Bar and Grill, 987 Eisenhower Boulevard, Harrisburg, PA 17111.  All members are encouraged to attend. Come early for dinner (and a drink) with other members.

2016 Region Awards

If anyone has any suggestions for year end awards, please pass them on to the the board soon.  Has anyone done well as a worker, crew, driver? Anyone gone "above and beyond" for the Susquehanna Region? Let us know. Peer recognition is a great thing; so, let us know of anyone who deserves to be recognized. 

Susquehanna Region's end-of-year banquet will be held Saturday, January 21 at the Holiday Inn in Grantville. Watch for additional details in the coming weeks on how to RSVP. We hope you'll all join us! 

Jefferson Circuit Repaved

A few years ago, Summit Point added a half-mile plus addition to the Jefferson track, making it  1.7 miles around.  The difference between the new surface and the old track could not have been more stark. 

The new portion was smooth as glass; and, the old part was bumpy and choppy to the point of tossing cars around in the brake zone and at turn-in.  Over the summer, the old parts were repaved to match the new parts.  Very smooth and much safer!  With one exception.  The uphill transition between turn #5 and #6 is still a challenge.  The left side bump is still a problem for lower cars. 

So, if you are going to drive this track, check your ride height and keep to the right entering turn #6.
