Resilience, Stamina and Collective Care Hello Loves How are you all? It's getting tougher isn't it? I remember back in May talking to friends, anticipating that September and October would bring us more challenges. We've all had different ways of dealing with this year and for some, it's been much more comforting to believe that this would all be over soon. I get it. I understand. We must do what we must do (although I'm getting a little frustrated by people who won't watch the news then ring me for a news update 😂). There are three things that we can focus on to support us:Resilience - We are actually, generally speaking, more resilient than we think we are. If we think of resilience as the other side of vulnerability and as states that we move in and out of, then we can better understand that resilience is a moveable feast. It is largely dependent on what resources we have to hand, how long we have had them and the condition that those resources are in. By resources, I mean relationships, safety, security and food/rest/sleep. It's worth spending some time thinking about our resources, checking what we have access to and what we need access to. Stamina - The mantra 'one day at a time', will carry me through most difficult moments/hours/days. In fact, this has created a mental stamina that supports me hugely. We are all invariably more capable, more able, than we think. The deeper we have to dig when things happen always bring amazement when we look back on events in hindsight, thinking that we couldn't possibly get through something that we absolutely did. Collective Care - When you've had a look at your resources as outlined above and you're feeling resourced, then it's time to look around and become part of someone else's resource ecosystem. This is 'collective care'. If you are able to observe your own resources, ask for help when you need replenishing and be available for help when you have it to give, we then live in communities that understand that we need each other. We are 'interdependent', not 'independent'! * You might like this poster from Banana Tree Log that I found to add to your daily well being rituals.... November LIVE ONLINE Training And of course, I am still predominately working online and am offering two public sessions via Zoom this month. These sessions have been so popular but I will take a break in December so these will be the last sessions of the year. The 3rd 'train the trainer online' public session is on the 16th November between 7pm and 9pm. Book your place here! Here's what people said after the last one: "I was having a crisis of confidence about delivering and facilitating virtual training and the experiential process of this session gave me lots of ideas to take away. You were also a very nurturing and supportive facilitator which is key :) " " An incredibly engaging session, particularly considering the number of participants. Lisa demonstrated how to deliver a great online session whilst imparting lots of knowledge and opportunities to interact with other participants and share tips. Lisa was warm and engaging. Thank Lisa!" AND "Wonderful and supportive energy from the get-go. Lisa created a lasting bubble of safe space and conveyed just the right amount of practical advice and tips. Would definitely attend another training - totally recommend." Then on the 30th November, I'm offering a session for the school community to really focus on placing wellbeing at the heart of the school community. Learn more here. I hope there is something in this Newsletter of interest for you and my sign off is not 'stay safe' .... rather I prefer 'we'll all be together again soon' Big love Lisa x |
