Scotland represented at Swedish Rural Parliament

Sarah Hyslop, Ayrshire LEADER Programme Manager, and Bill Sturrock, a member of Angus LEADER Local Action Group, attended the recent Swedish Rural Parliament.

The event took place in Visby, Gotland from 27 to 29 May and is one of the largest gatherings for rural development in Europe.

LARCs User Acceptance Testing

User Acceptance Testing for the Local Actions in Rural Communities system (LARCs) has started today (31 May). Representatives from seven Local Action Groups are taking part in the testing, which will run until 10 June.

Cooperation guidance

The Scottish Government LEADER Team is working with the Scottish Rural Network and LEADER Local Action Groups representatives to finalise draft Cooperation guidance. The draft guidance is expected to be passed for internal Scottish Government review (audit/business assurance etc) by the end of June.

New appointment for Ayrshire LEADER

Ayrshire Local Action Group are delighted to have appointed Calum Couston as Rural Development Officer. Calum will work as part of the LEADER team to provide a development and support service with applicants and beneficiaries for the Ayrshire LEADER and Argyll & Ayrshire FLAG programmes.

He has joined Ayrshire LAG from Kyle of Sutherland Development Trust, where he worked as a Community Development Assistant where he led the Trust in community hydro and community broadband projects.

Training for Fife LAG members

A training session for Fife Local Action Group members on Assessment/Scoring of Applications, Cooperation and State Aid is being held on Wednesday 8 June 2016.

LEADER job vacancies

Tyne Esk LEADER are recruiting a Finance Support Officer. The deadline for applications is 5 June.

Ayrshire LEADER attend summer events

The Ayrshire LEADER team have been preparing for busy weekends throughout the summer to promote the new LEADER scheme. They will be attending 15 fantastic community-led events across the area with their pop-up funding shop, including the world-renowned Dundonald Highland Games.

New Blue Deal workshop

26 July | Aberdeen | Free

The Blue New Deal initiative, led by the New Economics Foundation (NEF), is working to develop an action plan to support coastal communities, coastal economies and the marine environment on which they depend.

This event in Aberdeen is an opportunity to help shape this action plan.

How can rural communities work well for older people?

Outside the Box is working with Volunteering Matters Cymru and the National Development Team for Inclusion to find out how rural communities can work well for older people.

There are a number of ways you can help with the project including sharing your experiences and examples. Outside the Box are also looking for sites for potential development work.
