Good for your soul - Winter Campaign For most, the move to Level 2 will have come with much relief and excitement, as getting back to business is now possible. While we still have a long road to recovery and business may not look like it did pre-COVID, it is now time to get on and do what we love.... telling our stories, sharing our place and welcoming one and all back to The Coromandel. Destination Coromandel is working on the first-ever summer campaign designed to reignite past summer activity by stimulating desire and increasing visitation to The Coromandel. In the meantime, we will continue with the planned winter Good for your soul campaign, and commence the awareness phase of the summer campaign in September. With the expected absence of international visitors driving our focus on to the domestic market, we know there will be fierce competition for market share from other regions. The Coromandel needs to work hard to maintain visitor numbers during summer, the lifeline for our industry - hence the need for strong promotion in summer, Where Kiwis Holiday. We will allocate less spend over winter, when competition among other regions vying for the ski market will be fierce. Destination Coromandel is pulling together the Good for your Soul marketing campaign now, ready to launch and run through till the end of August. This will be the third consecutive year we have engaged in a regional campaign for winter. It is our intention to showcase The Coromandel as an ideal destination for our drive market (Auckland, Waikato and BOP) to get away and recharge the soul after all those lockdown constraints. The key components of the campaign are wellness, healthful activities, local cuisine, and retail shopping. We will target two market segments: a girls' getaway and a couples' retreat. It will include all experiences that contribute to the ‘wellness’ that comes with visiting The Coromandel. In this case, wellness translates to ‘good for your soul'. While the campaign objective is to increase awareness of the region as a winter getaway destination, we aim to drive as much conversion as possible and secure bookings for your business. Therefore we’d love to include any winter deals, packages, and events you and your industry partners may have. We’d also love the opportunity to sell any winter packages you may have through our two i-SITES (Thames and Whitianga). Please note, these would need to be commission friendly. Remember this campaign will focus on wellness, health, food, and retail shopping, so think outside the square; wellness retreats, paddock to plate experiences, reinvigorating getaways, natural products and slow-paced retail therapy are all key elements of the campaign.
