Message from the Vice ChancellorA Great Start to a New Academic Year! Another Labor Day is over, the fall is beginning, and just like that WCU has started a new academic year! I love the start of the academic
year! The rush of activities with all the excitement and hopes. This year we also welcomed Chancellor Kelli Brown to her first WCU opening! I love how WCU goes from slow to being slammed over a weekend! As the year opens with another year of record enrollment, we are certain to have many opportunities to make a difference in the lives of our students!
The colleagues in our Division routinely go the extra mile to help students start the year off in a positive way. We are solving problems, setting up events/breaking down events, and helping students navigate all sorts of challenges! Your examples remind and inspire me that at our core, that’s what our Division is all about… Making a difference for our students and our campus community. Those moments one-on-one taking the time to share kindness, offer encouragement, or a warm smile can make a powerful difference.
Thank you for a great opening and all the amazing work which will take place over the course of this year! I’m proud to be part of the WCU Student Affairs team! Again, thank you for all that you do! Sam Miller

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ON THE GO
Higher education faces a looming demographic storm. Decades-long patterns in fertility, migration, and immigration persistently nudge the country toward the Hispanic Southwest. As a result, the Northeast and Midwest--traditional higher education strongholds--expect to lose 5 percent of their college-aged populations between now and the mid-2020s. Read more
