Votes for Homecoming King and Queen doubled from the previous year. Over 100 students participated in Pumpkin Patch and carved or painted a pumpkin. wellRED Comedy Tour had over 500 in attendance at the Bardo Arts Center. As popular as ever, the Homecoming Carnival entertained over 2000 students and community members with rides and games. T-Pain and Blackbear gave an excellent performances to around 2,000 people. Over 1,000 t-shirts were given away during Homecoming week. Community members are already asking when next year’s Homecoming will be so they can plan ahead and attend. 2018 HOMECOMING KING & QUEENHannah Sink, a senior from Kernersville majoring in communication sciences and disorders, and Jonah Weston, a junior from Raleigh majoring in communication, were announced as Western Carolina University’s Homecoming queen and king Saturday, Nov. 3. CELEBRATE THE GOOD NEWSBrenda Holcombe's presentation at the National Scholarship Providers Association received a 5 out of 5 rating from attendees. 25Live Regional Conference was held at the UC and was attended by Michael Rymell and Linda Snyder. Jane Adams-Dunford presented on Social Mobility at the Southern Association for College Student Affairs Conference. Carol Barnao & Shawna Young have completed the Digital Marketing & Public Relations certificate. Sponsored by Continuing Education, topics included visual content marketing, social media strategies, and assessing digital marketing.
