MESSAGESA WORD ABOUT JASON REDMAN Good afternoon all, 32 years ago I found myself face to face with a challenging opponent. Both of us vying for the heavily contested position of fullback in the Downlands College under 14 rugby team. Training before and after school for the Holy Grale, which was to wear the No. 15 on your back. A close contest, though my opponent having a little physical advantage over me, he was going to have to earn every bit of that jersey. By the seasons close, the No. 15 was on the back of a young Jason Redman. It was a dual that I did not know at the time would forge a friendship for a lifetime. Our sporting prowess took us from the Rugby field to the tennis court where victory had a some what sweeter taste. On Friday night after study we would battle it out on the squash court. Jason, being a little bigger target than myself, was quick to lean that you don’t get in front of the boy hitting the ball. A year goes quickly at boarding school for two young boys furthering there scholastic endeavours. It was now 1988 and believe it or not football season was here again. Week to week we challenged one anther and yes by the end of the season, the rest is history. 1989 brings new challenges for both of us, Jason is in the work force, i’m in grade 11 at Downlands College and now its coed. Holidays would take me to St George where Jason was working for his Grandfather, Bill Lindores and Uncle John. I soon found out what it's like to work and work bloody hard. To this day, i’m sure thats where Jason got his work ethic from. Whilst at St George Jason learnt all aspects of living on the land from crutching and shearing sheep, mustering, branding cattle, cropping and irrigation. Rugby league was also a past time here playing for the mighty St George Dragons, where Jason was named best and fairest. We kept in contact every couple of months by the phone which wasn’t too bad considering. Somehow the pay phones would be jammed up with a 20c coin covered in superglue, thus making for very long calls. 1990 we get our licence, i’m still at school Jason pays cash for his first motor car. A 1970 Holden Belmont ute with three on the tree, even came with a tonneau cover ($400.00). It was at this time Jason left the property duties and through his hand at milling timber. Working on a portable saw mill an hour from St George. Driving to and from work in the dark in his pride and joy. By 7 in the morning he would be covered in sweet saw dust and flies. Jason would load the saw bench, stack all the flinches and different cuts of timber by hand. Xmas 1990 i’m fully educated, i’m in St George, i'm sitting in the passenger seat of a 1970 Holden ute, Michael Hutchence is screaming from the ute's upgraded sound system (sometimes you get kicked) and i’m looking at my mate, with a smile that was lighting up the bank of the Balonne Rivers, thinking to myself 'how good is this?' Watch this space. A WORD FROM JAMES MORIARTY It gives me great pleasure to write in this months newsletter and give you all feedback regarding my start back at Reds Global. As some of you may know I worked for Reds for around 18 months on the Icon project at Hurstville over 4 years ago. I had a great experience working on that project, with some interesting and experienced people while I was dogging and operating. Unfortunately my working holiday visa came to an end and I had to return to England and I started back with my old crane company almost immediately. Over the next four years I gained various promotions through that company and became their safety manager while assisting with both operations and driver controller for over 140 tower cranes in the sky, mainly in London but also dotted all around the UK. I have worked with cranes for around 11 years both operating, dogging and rigging. This new role was challenging and did cause a lot of long days, freezing cold crane erections and dismantles in the lovely English winters! Wish we had the same rain off policy there! In the middle of last year I got back in contact with Jason and Damien with my fingers crossed a safety role within Reds was up for grabs. To my pleasure the news back from Jason was extremely positive and the sponsorship progress got underway almost immediately. I'm not going to lie the smile on my face was huge! So the news was given to my old company and I assisted with finding a replacement. Since arriving and getting stuck back into working, slowly I have been making my way around to each site. Speaking to you all, i’m glad to see the standard of interesting and experienced personnel that work for Reds has only improved since I left. Seeing some old faces was warming and made the transition back very comfortable. Meeting new faces was made easier by the mutual respect that you all have for each other and have shown towards me. It made it feel like i’ve been here for years and for this, I thank you all. Over the past month I have been to a number of sites with some weird and wonderful problems on each. With team work shown by you all on the front line and the communication that I have received from different crane teams, it feels that we are all moving forward together as one, which is encouraging. Thanks to all the Reds Global team, the office staff, rigging and yard crews and all the site crews for making me feel welcome. Lets continue to push the company forward and keep up the good work. My phone is always on and I will do what I can to help and assist each of you in any way possible, so please don’t hesitate to call.

SAFETY MESSAGEHi Team, Our year sits at 1 Total Recordable Injury (TRI made up from a Lost Time Injury, a Restricted Work Injury and a Medical Treatment Injury) for the year compared to 6 in 2016. We are on track to reduce last year’s result by 30% with a long term goal of zero harm. Unfortunately we have had one high potential incident where, part of a load fell from a height causing zero injury or damage. The loss to the business was reputation and only luck prevented a serious injury. It is currently under investigation. The Reds Global Health initiative requiring all employees to complete medicals on a 3 yearly basis is almost complete and results will remain confidential. I will be contacting all employees to discuss their medicals and any treatment plans needed, so we can assist in addressing any health concerns raised in the medical. A new induction system is being developed and due to start in the coming weeks. It will require all employees to complete a company re-induction and re-assessment of current competencies (VOC). The induction will be held at Somersby. Please be aware of strict legislation regarding bullying and harassment in the workplace which will be addressed as part of our re-induction process over the coming months. Workplace Bullying Workplace Harassment Unfortunately we are not immune to this and have had incidents which have been addressed but if you have witnessed bullying or harassment at your site, please contact one of our managers, for a confidential discussion. Thank you for sending your timesheets through accordingly. It really helped with the payroll process. On Sunday, 7th May 2017 some team members of Reds Global will be representing the Company in the Port Macquarie Triathlon. There will be a team with Abbie doing the 1.9km swim, Colleen doing the 90km bike and myself doing the 21km run (it will be more of a jog from me). Even more impressive than that is Jason and Dave, who will be completing all 3 events. Words cannot express how proud we are of the team for taking on this challenge. Good luck to everyone involved. A quick reminder for all Team Leaders to ensure they update the gear register when they are supplied with new slings. If you are unsure about something please feel free to contact me. Stay safe, all the best. Hello, With Winter rapidly approaching and the shorter daylight hours now part of our working life, it is pleasing to see the changes to the Somersby premises. The traffic management plan implemented by our WH&S manager, Peter Hafey was developed for pedestrian safety, along with the safer access and egress of vehicles using the premises. Line marking is nearly complete and the feedback from our heavy vehicle operators has been positive. In the first week of April a delegation of Richard Crookes Constructions safety managers attended a safety and information day at Somersby. The response from the visit has been fantastic and it was an opportunity for both parties to exchange information and understand more on crane and rigging safety in this high risk industry. The demonstrations by our rigging and technical crew along with the talks and displays presented by Jason Redman and David Brown were received with enthusiasm by the safety managers. They were amazed at how much information they learnt on the day and Reds Global were proud to have been given the opportunity to conduct the day. There is a 'Crane Emergency Response and Rescue' scenario planned for June at a Richard Crookes site involving our highly trained Working at Heights & Rope Rescue Rigging team. The Richard Crookes safety managers will be in attending once again. All are looking forward to the day. A report on the day shall be in a future newsletter. Regards REDS GLOBAL UPDATESSome of you may not be aware that Reds Global has a social club. An amount $10 is contributed weekly by each club member. Events are organised approximately twice a year. This month we welcomed Tom Openshaw to the Electrical Technician crew. He will be attending various sites over time. All the best Tom. Congratulations on joining our team. We were lucky to have Richard Crookes Constructions safety team visit our yard at Somersby this month. It was a fantastic day, full of theory and practical demonstations.
