Interested in Becoming an Autocross Chief? We're still looking for and accepting "applications" for people who are interested in becoming Worker Chief or Registration Chief. We have a few people who have expressed interest in each position, but we don't want to miss out on anyone who is interested. If you'd like to step up, and become more active in the program, we'd love to hear from you. If you're interested
or have any questions for us, please email autocross@scca-susq.com. To learn more about the positions - please click on the link below:
Susquehanna Represented at MotoramaBy: Andrew Lobb
A simple Google search of the Motorama car show will leave you curious for more answers. Motorama's slogan boasts that it's a "live racing event that's unlike any other".It's home to all forms of motorsports new and old. A walk across the million square feet playground gives you access to anything you can dream of with a motor. At any given time there are cars, trucks, dirt bikes, quads, RCs, go karts, and more - all competing for your attention.Tucked in a back corner of Speed Show sat 7 cars
supporting the SCCA. These all have been modified and worked over for a purpose. All 7 are different brands, having different modifications, but all for the same passion. Everyone entered in Motorama loves some form of racing. Having a sponsored car from Road Racing, Rallycross, Autocross, and from Hill Climb showed a variety of what can be done to a vehicle to the public. In the background a TV blared audio of screeching tires and roaring engines of the cars at events all throughout our region. From mild to wild, showcasing that you can race with stock vehicles such as Jacob's GTI up to have extremely prepared vehicles such as Kristen Poole's Porsche showed a new audience that there are
outlets for legal racing. Using our existing registration system we recruited many new people that were interested in coming out and supporting the SCCA.However small the impact seems all the workers at the table had a great time coming in speaking about their passions and showing videos of them racing throughout the region. All and all the impact that we had at Motorama was a large one, families got to share stories of racing, children got educated, and the love of racing was spread. Until next year...
