Leadership Institute Summary

We had a wonderful time in the Big Easy! IABC staff thoroughly enjoyed meeting all of our leaders from around the globe and we certainly hope that all in attendance gained new knowledge and guidance, met other incredible leaders and left New Orleans feeling invigorated and supported.

Congratulations to the CMA winners – what an impressive and inspiring group of leaders. Thank you to everyone who submitted an entry or nomination. Please be sure to check out the winners here. In coming weeks, we will post award-winning CMA entries on our website so that your chapter can benefit from all of the best practices submitted.

If you were unable to join us in New Orleans, we want to ensure that you have access to the ideas presented and shared at LI. Starting today, we will begin to post session notes, presentations and great ideas on our website. Review them here.

New ways to connect with other leaders

We want to make it easier for leaders to communicate and share strategies, tips, and advice on marketing and planning events, and especially growing chapter membership. To that end, we’d like to invite you to join two new LinkedIn groups we’ve set up where those conversations can easily take place with other leaders across the globe.  Join today: exchange ideas and gather the most up to date information from IABC staff!

Chapter Leaders group

This group is a subgroup of the large IABC group (which can be joined here) and can be found directly by following this link: Chapter Leaders Group. You must request permission to join both groups but we try to process those requests as quickly as we can throughout the day.

IABC Membership Directors Forum

This group is specifically for Membership Directors and we’ll be providing updates on membership initiatives here. To request membership to this group, please follow this link: Membership Directors.

Once you’re made a member of each group, you can easily access them anytime by logging into LinkedIn and selecting Groups from the Interests tab at the top of your screen.

Final Reminder: chapter financial reports and board updates

2013 Chapter Reports are due 15 February 2014! Each chapter should return the documents found in the Dropbox link below.  U.S. Chapters: please note that you have a different finance agreement form to fill out. Return all forms along with a pdf of your 31 December 2013 bank statement to leader_centre@iabc.com. Be sure to include your chapter name and region in the subject line of the email. If you have specific questions, feel free to email leader_centre@iabc.com.

Gold Quill deadline

The Gold Quill entry deadline is right around the corner on 10 March 2014. Please remind your chapters about this deadline and encourage them submit an entry. It’s an exciting honor to be awarded a Gold Quill and we want as many IABC members to receive this award as possible! Have questions about creating a winning entry? Be sure to check out our Twitter account @iabc for an upcoming #CommChat on how to write award-winning Gold Quill entries.
