Message from the Director
With many months of significant change across Flinders University, we have experienced one of our busiest years so far.

Rather than tell you about the work we’ve been up to this year I thought it might be better to hear from some of our students who make the bold and courageous decision to embark on postgraduate studies.
Medical students committed to improving mental health care
We have been hosting a number of medical students in our research unit over the past few years, providing them with opportunities to be exposed to, be involved in, and to undertake dedicated research projects. This is part of their Medical Degree, and known as ‘Advanced Studies’.

Health Care Homes and the
Flinders Program
Until June 2019 health professionals involved with Health Care Homes across regional SA have the opportunity to undertake FREE online Flinders Program training.
The Road Home
The partners of veterans and emergency services first responders need more emotional, social and organisational support, a new Flinders University study says.
Flinders Human Behaviour and Health Research Unit researchers have made a series of recommendations, including that the vicarious impact of Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS) on the partners be more formally recognised within organisational policies and procedures of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) and Emergency Services First Responders (ESFR) services.

Prof Sharon Lawn recently attended the SRNT-E conference in Munich where she presented research on the adaptation of a smoking cessation App for people with severe mental illness.

Chronic Condition Management (CCM) Postgraduate Programs
Chronic Condition Management has become relevant to all practice and service settings. The course topics cater to both individual areas of interest and/or your role in health care, along with providing learning in a diverse range of chronic conditions and their management, rather than being targeted to specific conditions.
