Good morning, everyone! I was thinking about our time in quarantine and how it's possibly accelerated our growth to becoming our parents. A friend of mine stares out his window at birds who come to the flowers on the wreath on his door every day. This brings him joy, yet we're TOO YOUNG to have "our birds" that visit every day! He's a successful entrepreneur in his early 40s, he shouldn't have "his birds!" He's not 80 years old sitting on a park bench with a bag of stale bread, talking to his "friends" about the woebegone years of the pandemic! Yet, here we are.
Just yesterday, I was standing in my laundry room, shirtless, and Aubrey walked by and said, "Daddy, why aren't you wearing a shirt?" I replied "I'm washing mine." That was an acceptable answer I guess, and Aubrey went back on her way to do Aubrey things on a Sunday. In this case it was working on her art project for school.
I was standing there in the laundry room without a shirt because like my Dad, and I'm sure his father before him, sometimes we snack or eat a meal and BOOM, sauce on the shirt. Now we are men of ACTION! We don't wait for laundry day and risk a pesky BBQ sauce stain. NO! We finish our meal, and promptly wash our shirt so there IS no stain. Yet, after that interaction with Aubrey, I clearly remembered
running into my Dad doing the same thing. And that warmed my heart.
I think it's pretty awesome I'm becoming my Dad, and my buddy Jason is getting the chance to slow down a bit and appreciate the little things like birds visiting him every day. We're both still blessed to be gainfully employed and running businesses employing dozens of awesome people. We're both still blessed to be able to spend time with the ones we love and, even in a high-stress time, remember that if there wasn't a pandemic we'd probably be on the road somewhere, in another hotel, at another conference, eating another meal with friends we hold dear, but those amazing friends aren't our kids or spouses. So, I'll take becoming my Dad! I'll embrace it! He's a heck of a father and he raised me right! I just hope to do the same with my
kids!
OK, on to some lawsuit and settlement updates!
That's all for now! I'm hopeful Jason will post some new bird videos, and I've got to hustle, hustle, hustle to get YOU more settlements! We just closed the deal on a new one today!
Make it a GREAT WEEK!
