You’re in luck! Susquehanna Region RE, Kristen Poole, is leading the last Track Night in America of the season at Pocono Raceway, and she’d love to have you there! (Hint: If you ask her, she may even have a $25 off coupon for you.) Welcome our new Secretary! Spooky Nook AX Results by Chris Brown
This was our first event at Spooky Nook, and overall it went really well. I want to extend another thank you to everyone who showed up and worked through the growing pains with us. We had a few hiccups, but everyone was willing to help offer solutions and they seemed to work well! The goal is to take those changes and implement them for the next event on the 24th. Despite the small size of the lot, our resident course expert (Rob Springer) did a fantastic job creating a fun and well flowing course for us. I know Rob will do the same for us on the 24th, so when you see him please tell him thank you. Speaking of the 24th, we upped the cap to 95 entrants for this next event. Registration is filling fast, so sign up now so you don't miss out on all the fun. I hope to see you all there!
RallyCross - Over The HumpWe are now 4 events in and preparing for the last 2 events with the next one at Spooky Nook. We had a total of 39 competitors at the last event with a total of 11 runs. The track was well groomed for the event and we only had to contend with some dust issues. Registration is currently open for the next event and closes on September 5th at 8:00 pm. I highly encourage everyone to pre-register to save some money. Lastly, I want you to go over those cars (or truck) and make sure it’s good to go for a long run. Let’s make this next one epic. I look forward to seeing you all there.
On a slightly different but related note, Rallycross isn’t typically considered a spectator sport. While we do have the normal spectator crowd at events, we have noticed an increase in the amount of spectators showing up to our events. We encourage all of the spectators including children to come out and enjoy the event and, if old enough, ask for a ride along with any of the competitors. We only ask a few things, please make sure that everyone with you has signed the waiver and gets a wristband and if you plan to take a ride, you must fill out the weekend membership form if you aren’t a current member. (It’s free if you’re only riding along BTW). If you aren’t sure what it’s all about, please follow the link to see a video from the last event. Street Survival ResultsBy Melissa Mauro Even though our event was held on one of the hottest days of the summer, we had a very successful event. We had many happy teens, parents, and staff, and I couldn't have asked for a better day. I'd like to thank our coaches who took a day out to help teach the students. This event couldn't have been possible, or such a success without you! Kenny Adam, Russ Addie, Austin Baker, TJ Brillhart, Ian Creps, Adam Dellinger, Lisa Leathery, Alan Lesher, Jacob Light, Jared Mark, Cliff Moten, Jack Raymond, David Rittenhouse, William Sangrey, Rich Thomas, Blair Warner, Daniel Wolan and Brock Yates. I'd also like to thank Rob Springer for helping to design the exercises for the site, and spent the entire day out shagging cones and making the course safe...along with Chris Brown, and gracious other members including Nathan Lybarger, Jacob Light, Alan Lesher and Markus Houser who came out in the heat to help with the course. Thanks also to Kristen Poole for teaching the classroom portion. It takes a village to run this event, and I couldn't be more grateful for the group of amazing people I had with me this weekend in my village. To see everyone come together to help all of the students means so much to me. We will be scheduling a second school for 2019, most likely in the beginning of November, so keep you eyes peeled for details coming soon. If you're interested in helping me with the program next year, or have any questions about TRSS, don't hesitate to email me, or reach out via Facebook. Race Cars & CoffeeBy Melissa Mauro Susquehanna SCCA invites it's members as well as all car enthusiasts to join us for Race Cars and Cookout! Come join us and hang out with SCCA drivers who compete in many avenues including (but not limited to) autocross, rallycross, road rally, road racing, and hill climbing. We welcome all cars and drivers to join us and learn more about what we do, and our passion for motorsports. It also gives you a chance to show off your cool ride! We all have one thing in common, and that is an interest in cars. We will have a yellow/white striped tent at Pavilion T-6, and we will be grilling food. This is going to be like a potluck hang out. The club will provide hot dogs and hamburgers, but we ask that if you show up to please bring something else with you for the group. Knoebels will be offering us discounted ride tickets as well, so we can all hang out, have fun, and still get a little bit of an adrenaline rush in! Please make sure you let us know on our Facebook event page if you’ll be attending, so we make sure we get enough food for the cookout. We hope to see you there! SCCA Foundation Sweepstakes
And, this year we've added a second prize drawing donated by Skip Barber Racing School! After the Grand Prize is drawn, a second winning ticket will be drawn for two entries to the Skip Barber One-Day GT Racing School. This day-long experience allows the driver to experience their race prepared school cars on the track. The school begins with an in-depth classroom session going over the racing line and vehicle dynamics. The program rapidly picks up the pace as you experience the thrill these high horsepower, high grip race cars with lead follow laps on the race track! With only three weeks left in the Sweepstakes, please join us in encouraging your Region members to participate today. They can use promo code SCCA20 to get 20% more entries for their donation. But the Sweepstakes closes on September 3rd, so time is running out to support a great cause and have a shot at these great prizes. Read below to learn more about all the things SCCA Member participation in last year's Sweepstakes helped make possible over the past year. I hope you'll help us continue this great work by encouraging your members to participate by clicking on the ENTRY link below.

News from SCCA Nationals - Bites, Brews, and things to DoAUG 8, 2019 — With the 2019 Tire Rack SCCA® Solo® Nationalsfast approaching, many are making their travel plans for the annual trip to Lincoln, Nebraska. And while we are all converging on the Cornhusker State capital for the very specific reason of Solo Nationals competition and comradery, it is always kind of fun to break off in groups, or as a family, and head into town to grab a bite to eat or do something slightly different. Less Caution, More Racing!AUG 13, 2019 — Nothing takes the wind out of a driver’s sails like a double yellow. Racers live to race—not circulate slowly while someone else’s bad day is cleared away. Despite racecars becoming more reliable than ever before, the use of Full Course Yellows (FCYs) has increased over recent decades in the name of driver and worker safety. So how do we, as racers and organizers, work together to minimize the occurrence and length of full course cautions? Which Helmet is Right for You? JUNE 27, 2019 — Nearly everything we do at SCCA requires a helmet. Depending on your needs, that can either mean a minor or major investment. Autocrossing? You only need an M-Rated helmet. Hitting the track for Club Racing? You need an SA-Rated helmet. How SCCA and Racing Saved the Corvette AUG 12, 2019 — Just recently, Chevrolet revealed a completely new design for its 2020 Corvette. Racer magazine writer Jason Isley, who is also an SCCA competitor and member of the Board of Directors, was on hand to witness one unveiling in Southern California and had some thoughts afterwards pertaining to the role SCCA played in the iconic sports car’s development and history. ——— Sponsors ———2019 Preliminary Event Schedule *This schedule of events is preliminary and far from complete.
