Housing Selection Begins for Returning Students

Living on campus is an important aspect of college life. Statistics show that students who live in campus housing perform better academically and are more engaged in their overall Armstrong college experience. Housing and Residence Life strives to enhance our residents' college experiences by hosting residential educational programming and having community building activities to help our residents build a strong community on campus.  We help to foster and encourage school pride among our residents to become proud Armstrong State Pirates!

Finding the right housing options can be challenging for returning students. Housing and Residence Life is make your student’s transition into fall a little easier. This year, for three weeks only, students can self-select their own fall housing assignment. The Office of Housing and Residence Life hosted residential programs, such as our Armstrong Open House, so that our residents could meet new potential roommates and tour all of the different room accommodations that Housing offers in the apartment communities. If you would like to see the different accommodation types, please explore our choices.

Students requesting to stay in their current housing assignment will be able to self-select on January 25- 29. If your student currently lives in Windward Commons and wishes to return to Windward Commons, all they need to do is email housing@armstrong.edu before January 29.

If your student wants a new room, they can self-select to their new room from February 1- 12, depending on your academic standing. Students must self-select through their online housing application. This application can be found on the Home page on their PORT of Armstrong.

It is important that students renew during this time frame because students who renew before February 12 will be entered into a draw to win a 32- inch LED flat screen TV. We hope that your family decides that campus housing is the best choice for your student.

Career Services

Coming up in the month of February, Career Services will be hosting a few events to help your students become better prepared for the professional world.

The Clothing Closet is a great event that provides Armstrong students with one full business attire outfit for free! It is set up like a store where students shop, try on, and then check out with their outstanding new outfit. Attire is all donated from local businesses and community members.

Lastly, students should take that new outfit they acquired and visit the spring 2016 Career Fair in our Student Union on February 23rd. Employers will be present from an array of companies and organizations recruiting for internships and full time jobs. Students can check out who is coming by logging into their Career Web account.
