AIA MIAMI PRESENTS SOA AWARDS AT FRIDAY’S GALA AT NEW MCAD BUILDING
UM’s School of Architecture is proud to announce faculty, alumni and student awards received Friday evening. Honor Award Winners included: UM Student of the Year Hongyang Wang (pictured above with Professors Steven Fett and Allan Shulman); Leader in Education Rocco Ceo, SOA Director of Undergraduate Studies; Architect of the Year Natividad (Nati) Soto (BARCH ’80) of Ferguson Glasgow Schuster Soto, Inc.; Urban Designer of the Year Juan Mullerat (MAST ’06), Director of PlusUrbia LLC, Miami and Ft. Lauderdale.

2013 AIA Miami Design Award Winners: Perkins & Will represented by SOA Professor Jose Gelabert-Navia won three awards; Shulman + Associates, SOA Professor Allan Shulman, four awards; Mateu Architecture, Roney Mateu (BARCH ’76); R & R Studios LLC, SOA Professors Roberto Behar and Rosario Marquardt.

Faculty Member Miguel (Mike) Rodriguez FAIA (BARCH ’81) has been selected to the “Citizen Architect” Class of 2013 by AIA Florida. He has also been elected Chair of the Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design.

ALUMNI, FRIENDS AND STUDENTS ENJOY HOMECOMING BY MOONLIGHT
Over 200 attendees enjoyed the camaraderie, delicious picnic fare and fireworks at SOA’s Homecoming Reunion Celebration. Twenty students and AIAS members joined in as event organizers, helpers, and sales reps for SOA and UM memorabilia.


December 3: AIA Drawn from Miami exhibition opening at the Miami Center for Architecture & Design (MCAD). Curated by Professor Allan Shulman, FAIA. 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. RSVP information to be announced.
