22 August 2018 On Monday 27 August 2018, we will be relocating to our new office at Level 5, 201 Coward Street, Mascot and closing down our Ashfield and Kogarah offices. We’re sad to say goodbye to the Ashfield and Kogarah offices but the new Mascot office will be bright, airy and modern. The move will save us money on rent and infrastructure and allow our staff to more effectively provide support to you from a central location within our region. Psychiatry support line for GPs is now open!If you are a GP practising in an eligible Primary Health Network, you now have access to a psychiatrist who can support you in managing the care of mental health consumers. The service is free, and available Monday to Friday, 9.00 am - 5.00 pm. GPs can register for the service by visiting gpsupport.org.au or call 1800 16 17 18. Hard changes or hardly changing - leadership in general practiceThe Person Centred Medical Neighbourhood Readiness Program (PCMNRP) has been looking closely at this very common problem. We have all read the how-to books or watched the TED talks, but whenever we try to make a change in our practice, it invariably falls by the way side or simply fails to get off the ground at all. This can be immensely frustrating for any change leader. POLAR Quality Improvement SoftwareIf you are intending to claim the new Quality Improvement PIP next year, you will need a data extraction tool. If you currently have Pencat, we encourage you to check that you are uploading regularly. If not you may wish to install POLAR, which is our preferred tool. Keeping track of health information this Daffodil DayBy the age of 85, the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare estimate that half of all Australians will be diagnosed with cancer. It’s essential that people know about the signs and symptoms to look out for in order to start treatment early. To assist in keeping on top of their health, this Daffodil Day on August 25, Australians are urged to learn about how having a My Health Record can benefit them. Be Wise with your health and your medicinesAll Australians are encouraged to “be wise” with their pharmaceuticals during Be Medicine Wise Week from August 20-26. A great way to keep control your prescribed and dispensed medicines is using a My Health Record. Although the CESPHN offices will be relocating to Mascot in August this year, the CESPHN CPD program will continue to operate uninterrupted across the region. We will be using a number of venues around the St George and Inner West areas in place of the current Ashfield and Kogarah office locations. CPD venues we will be using include:
