In the Press I recently featured in both The Guradian and Sunday Mail with my skin tips for 2016. Here they are again in case you missed it. 1. Quality Sleep
– “No one can under-estimate the impact of a good night’s sleep. It’s when the body produces the most growth hormone, which aids in cell and tissue repair. While you sleep, your body also makes new collagen, the protein that keeps skin strong and elastic. If you’re having difficulty in getting the recommended 8 hours, try to avoid consuming heavy rich foods 2 hours before bed, unwind with a relaxing bath and put a few drops of essential oils on your pillow.” 2. Work with a facialist
– “I like to think a regular visit to a facialist is essential maintenance. If you want to maintain healthy skin, you should invest in yourself. A good facialist will individually tailor treatments and adapt your skincare regime at each visit. This is important as our skin condition changes on a regular basis. The highly concentrated ingredients and methods included in skin rejuvenation treatments from a professional will stimulate collagen synthesis, refine pores, nourish and hydrate as well as smooth lines and wrinkles. 3. Primed and ready
- Always apply a cosmeceutical facial primer before makeup application such as the Lisa Franklin Pro-Effect Luminescent Base, this is fundamental for a flawless complexion, will lock in your skincare and prolong your makeup. 4. Don’t Stress!
- Stress triggers a hormone in our bodies called cortisol which slows down the renewal of skin cells making your skin look dull. Prolonged cortisol production can also lead to the loss of elastin and collagen which results in the sagging of skin and loss of elasticity. Try practising deep breathing techniques and yoga in particularly stressful periods.” 5. Exercise
– “Find an exercise that you truly enjoy and you will be much more likely to stick to it regularly. Whether your exercise of choice is yoga, ballet or boxing; exercise is one of the best ways to nourish and revitalise tired skin cells. An increased heart rate increases circulation and your skin receives a large dose of oxygenated blood which will in turn boost detoxification and cell renewal which is what makes your skin glow!” 6. Feed The Skin From Within
– “What you put on your plate is just as important as what you put on your skin. Everything we consume becomes a part of our inner being and therefore optimum nutrition is so important for our complexion. Eat a diet rich in leafy greens, vitamins c, good fats such as avocados and nuts, selenium and vitamin E and your skin will truly reap the rewards. I also recommend SKINADE; a natural fruit flavoured anti-ageing collagen drink containing a plethora of active ingredients that boosts your body's natural production of collagen and hyaluronic acid.”
