You've heard of the Wright Brothers. You've heard of Amelia Earhart. But what do you know about the first female African-American pilot, Bessie Coleman? Inspired by her Great-Aunt Bessie's legacy, Gigi Coleman created an organization called The Bessie Coleman Aviation All-Stars and one-woman show to share with the world Bessie's too often ignored history. Join us in partnership with Barbie for a celebration of resilience as Gigi Coleman honors her great-aunt and shares her remarkable story.

Her film, Black Barbie: A Documentary is now set to release this year! Sharing Our Collective Story: Mobile Video for Performance & Digital Storytelling

Join us for this cutting-edge workshop in which multimedia artist Lani Asunción will share aspects of their interdisciplinary public performative practice, weaving together a visual language guided by historical research, community engagement, and experimental performance connected to their identity as a queer, multiracial Filipinx-American. Learn to address political and historical subjects through the power of visual storytelling.

2023 HSF Scholar Program Application

Every year, Hispanic Scholarship Fund selects 10,000 outstanding students as HSF Scholars from a broad and talented pool of applicants. Scholars are selected based on merit. Award amounts range from $500 - $5,000, depending on need.

Must be of Hispanic heritage. Application due February 15, 8 PM ET.
