EARTH-i September Newsletter 2017 No Images? Click here September Newsletter Since our last newsletter we've seen yet more exciting developments at Earth-i! In June we announced our new high resolution colour video satellite constellation, and we're eagerly anticipating the launch of EiX2, our service demonstrator satellite for the constellation, which is scheduled for launch later this year. This summer we've also attracted a wave of talent to our growing team in Guildford, and moved to a significantly larger office on the Surrey Research Park to provide room for yet more growth. I think this highlights the exciting times ahead not only for Earth-i, but the UK and international space sector. Everyone here has been captured by the exciting developments of the SpaceX Falcon 9 OTV-5 mission landing and the end of the incredible Cassini journey. We hope you enjoy our latest newsletter. Best wishes, Richard Blain, Founder and CEO. Contents:
We're at INTERGEO 2017 this week!EARTH-i is exhibiting at the INTERGEO conference and exhibition this week for the second year. Our stand is located in Hall 1.1, stand D1.010, next to the UK pavilion. This year we're showcasing the range of satellite constellations that power Earth-i's analytics and insights, including our own constellation of satellites with our service demonstrator launching into orbit later this year. If you’d like to book a one-to-one meeting with a member of the team, e-mail us to arrange a time. Earth-i Recruits Industry Talent To Help Meet Demand for Earth Observation IntelligenceEarth-i announced a range of new senior appointments to support with the company’s growth as it cements its position at the forefront of the commercialisation of space and the rapid evolution of the New Space market. The new recruits bring years of experience and expertise from the EO and technology industries:
Richard Blain, CEO of Earth-i, said: “We welcome John, Chetan, Nico, Gary and Natasha to the team at this exciting time for both Earth-i and the space industry in general. Our existing EO data and analytics business is growing rapidly and the deployment of our new constellation is progressing as planned.” Hurricane Impact ImageryThe devastation of natural disasters brought to a number of communities in the last few months reminds us of the power of nature and subsequent impact on lives, communities and property from such major storm events. Data from space is playing an increasingly important role in providing high resolution images of affected areas both before and after the event. Comparison of the two data-sets enables rapid analysis of the impact in specific locations of concern. We're developed an interactive before & after tool to show the impact of Hurricane Harvey in the Houston area. We acquired satellite imagery from our partners SIIS on 4 May 2017 and 1 September 2017 from KOMPSAT-3 which illustrates the effects of the flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey. The Earth-i constellation– a quantum shift in VHR satellite image and video availabilityWill very high-resolution (VHR) satellite-based remote sensing be truly operational one day? Do we still need to wait for the right satellite, from the right company, to be over your area of interest (AOI) at the right moment? Maybe not! Imagine there is a VHR satellite over any of your Areas of Interest today, tomorrow, and every other day, as well as multiple revisits per day. Fiction? No, this is our vision for VHR satellite monitoring in the near future. Frequent updates, or anytime, anywhere monitoring, may seem applicable to security applications or emergency response, but how do they relate to the Mining or Oil and Gas Industry? Free data from the European Copernicus program may be enough for change monitoring on a regular basis, but actionable insights requires detail...
