Salamanca Pedestrian Improvements - Update

Completed works

The upgrade of the underground stormwater infrastructure is now complete, future proofing the site for future weather events.

The civil works crews have also completed the removal of the grassed island and temporarily resealed, what will form part of the new road network.

Upcoming works

The winter season is upon us and set up is well underway for the Dark Mofo + City of Hobart Winter Feast at PW1.  Given the vicinity to the works zone, the City has been working closely with the festival organisers to minimise the impact of construction works on the event.

The next stage of works will focus on the realigning the kerb line adjacent the Tasman Memorial fountain.

Traffic Management Changes

To accommodate the Winter Feast, Dark Mofo will implement the following road closures:

 Castray Esplanade (from Montpelier Retreat to the Silos Link Road) will be closed to traffic from:

  • 5 am on Sunday 9 June 2019 to 5 pm on Tuesday 25 June 2019;

Morrison Street and Gladstone Street (from Murray Street to Salamanca Place) will be closed to traffic from:

  • 6 pm to 1 am on the evenings of 14, 19, 20 and 21 June 2019
  • 3 pm to 1 am on the afternoon and evenings of 15, 16, 22 and 23 June 2019
