CLASS ACTION INVESTIGATIONS
A MESSAGE FROM SCOTT HARDY
Good morning, amazing Top Class Actions viewers! Can you BELIEVE it?!?! In a week it will be Christmas! I hope your shopping is done or almost done! I know my beautiful bride's been busy making sure the kids have a great Christmas (as they always do!) The biggest hit so far was the small remote-controlled drones they received for Hanukkah. They run $30-$50 each on Amazon and are FUN, but, challenging! When I did my fatherly duty of testing one out . . . on a day I was going out of town (bad idea on my part, more on that shortly) I had a
BLAST! Until I didn't . . . . I got the battery charged, the remote synced up to the drone, I was flying it calmly IN the house and then I thought I'd impress my wife with my piloting skills and fly it outside. That way when she was coming back to the house after walking our dog she would see her husband, gamely flying the drone around the cul-de-sac with skill and finesse, be GREATLY impressed by my piloting skills, and be swept off her feet in awe. That's what I THOUGHT would happen. Unfortunately, I gamely piloted the drone out the front door and found out about this thing called WIND. HOLY MOLY, does a slight breeze make it more challenging to fly these things! But, I did it! I adjusted for the breeze and started flying the drone around the cul-de-sac swiftly. Zooming left, right, up and down, faster and faster I was looping around the circle and then . . . A BIG gust of wind kicked
up. All of a sudden my drone gained 50' of altitude; I panicked and tried to make it drop back down, which it did, bumping off my neighbor's tree and disappearing. So here I am, still having to pack for my work trip, my flight leaves in two hours, and I lost one of my kids drones. UGH. Awkward. After poking around my neighbor's front yard a bit I finally spotted the drone on their roof. Once I learned I didn't actually lose Sydney's present I ran inside, packed my stuff, sent a text message to my neighbor and headed out. He got the drone for us and dropped it off that night. Fast forward to yesterday. I was back from my trip, playing with the girls, showing THEM how to
fly the drones and Sydney became an "expert." She was flipping it, zooming around the backyard, and then "DADDY!!!!!" The drone disappeared over a neighbor's hedge (different neighbor) or it got lost in a tree. An hour later, we couldn't find it so scratch one drone. Earlier that day, Aubrey was flying HER drone and she REALLY liked getting altitude on it, until she says "Oh no Daddy" and we lose sight of her drone. Thankfully we found IT! It was on ANOTHER neighbor's roof. We got it back using a ladder and an extra long collapsible pool skimmer net. Long story longer, even after all those trials and tribulations, the girls STILL love them! I ordered a few new
ones, so we can try our luck out with different models. Maybe they'll become professional drone pilots. Yes, that's a thing, it's a new sport, and you can even watch it on TV!On the work side of things, we've got new investigations launching TODAY! Courtney's been working her tail off to get at least one in front of you today, so check out the U by Kotex Tampon recall investigation. This investigation is shocking, so make sure to submit your information if you qualify. The attorneys handling it will take great care of you if you're chosen or part of the proposed class! We (Sarah, Courtney, and Steve) all got together at the end of last week to plan out 2019. It's almost here, and we had a good idea about WHAT we were going to do, just not the HOW. Next week, I'll talk a bit about our core values, how we chose them, and how much YOU mean to us! Check out the books by our friend Mike Papantonio, a lawyer from the law firm Levin, Papantonio, Thomas, Mitchell, Rafferty & Proctor. He's written two legal thrillers: Law and Disorder & Law and Vengeance. I got my own signed copies at Mass Torts Made Perfect in October. If you have family members who love legal thrillers, they make great Christmas gifts! Now, on to more lawsuit and settlement updates! That's all for now! Make it a GREAT week! Warm Regards,
Scott Hardy
