It was encouraging to see such a positive turnout, with so many helpful questions and comments. This feedback is very valuable to the College leadership team in planning the future of our College. Recruitment Update Although most of the following appointments/allocations have already been announced, it’s worth listing all of the positions which have been filled for the College of Nursing and Health Sciences: Vice-President and Executive Dean - Professor Alison Kitson There have also been Expressions of Interest announced for Teaching Program Directors, Heads of Teaching Sections and a Coursework Student Experience Coordinator. What is the Transition Team doing? Dean (Education) Dr Chris Brebner explained our College’s Teaching Programs at the Forum. They are Health Professions (Audiology, Disability, Exercise Science, Nursing, Nutrition and Dietetics, Midwifery, Occupational Therapy, Optometry, Physiotherapy and Speech Pathology) and Health Sciences (Applied Gerontology, Clinical Rehabilitation, Health Sciences and Palliative Care and Supportive Services) Dean (Research) Dr Jennifer Tieman explained at the Forum how research sections will operate. Research sections are configured around common research interests and develop research capability, capacity and vigour. They are led by a Research Section Head and balanced and research-only academic staff will be based within a Research Section. Research sections will house recognised research centres and groups. Most staff within the interim College Support Service Teams are now co-located. We are keen to hear from you and welcome your ideas and input on how we can do things differently. You are encouraged to talk to any member of the Transition Team or you can email your ideas or suggestions. Open Days and Open Night at Sturt Flinders University Open Days are being held at Bedford Park campus on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 August. Students will get a taste of Flinders with interactive activities, demonstrations, campus tours and information sessions. Visit the Open Days website for more information. Mental Health Team Research Grant The mental health team; Professor Eimear Muir-Cochrane, Dr Adam Gerace, Mrs Deb O’Kane and Ms Suzanne Dawson, Research Assistant and PhD candidate have been awarded a research grant of $20,000 by The Centre for Nursing and Midwifery Education and Research, SALHN for the project entitled ‘Examining behaviours of concern in general medical and surgical wards in South Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN)'.
