Destination Hauraki Coromandel Welcomes Cathedral Cove's Role in Tourism New Zealand’s Global Minecraft Campaign

Destination Hauraki Coromandel is thrilled to announce that Cathedral Cove has been selected as a hero asset in Tourism New Zealand’s groundbreaking partnership with Minecraft, Mojang & Warner Bros. With over 170 million players per month worldwide, and an audience reach of 70 million across key markets, the release of a New Zealand-themed world in Minecraft presents a significant opportunity to showcase the country on a global scale.

This initiative marks the first time a Destination Management Organisation has collaborated with Minecraft, aligning with the upcoming release of the Minecraft movie which was also filmed in New Zealand. While Hauraki Coromandel was not selected as one of the six playable downloadable content (DLC) worlds, the region features in content promoting Tourism New Zealand’s Minecraft partnership which will be featured globally to promote the game.

Megan Nunn, Marketing Manager at Destination Hauraki Coromandel, expressed excitement about this opportunity “We know that Cathedral Cove is instantly recognisable as New Zealand with our international audience so we're very excited to be able to be part of this campaign to promote New Zealand as a year-round destination”.

Destination Hauraki Coromandel will actively leverage this campaign to promote the region across owned and paid channels reinforcing the message: The world can come play for real in Hauraki Coromandel.
