Bridge Safety High Priority
Did you know GUY has been inspecting Oklahoma bridges since 1992? In April, inspections begin under our newest off-system bridge inspection contract. We will be inspecting bridges for twelve counties, including two new clients: Caddo and Jefferson. We are glad to help keep travelers safe as they cross our county bridges.
Spring is in the air, and so are allergens that may leave you reaching for the tissue box and eye drops. If you suffer from allergy symptoms such as sneezing, congestion, itchy or watery eyes, and/or a runny nose, here are some tips from the Norman Regional Health System that may help keep your seasonal allergies at bay: - Begin taking allergy medicines before allergy season begins so your body does not release the chemicals that cause your symptoms.
- Wash your bedding once a week in hot water, and use a clothes dryer rather than drying laundry outside.
- Avoid spending too much time outdoors on days when pollen counts are high. If you do go outside, wear a hat and sunglasses and change clothing when you come back inside.
- Take a shower or bath each night to remove pollen from your skin and hair.
- Shut doors and windows at your home and in your vehicles.
- Keep the air clean and dry in your home by using high-efficiency filters and a dehumidifier.
- Try to avoid outdoor chores, such as mowing the lawn or gardening. If you have to do these activities, wear a pollen mask.
- Avoid or limit close contact
with pets that spend time outside and try to keep them off beds and other furniture.
