Click here July 9, 2021 Dear Industry Partner, The Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia is a proud member of the National Hardest Hit Campaign in support of Tourism businesses impacted by COVID-19. On Tuesday, July 6th our partners from Tourism Industry Association of Canada, Tourism HR Canada and the Hotel Association of Canada held a press conference calling on the Canadian government to extend supports such as CEWS and CERS for the tourism sector beyond September (view release). In addition, an Open Letter to Minister Freeland, was sent by the Coalition as a kickstart to the latest support campaign designed to apply pressure while Members of Parliament are in their ridings. Over the summer, a strong and aligned local grassroots effort will be crucial. TIANS will continue to advocate on your behalf for these critical supports, and you can help too. With regards to additional supports, you will see below that Nova Scotia's Small Business Real Property Tax Rebate Program was extended to July 9, but closes tonight at 11:59. FUNDING SUPPORTS - APPROACHING DEADLINESPROPERTY TAX REBATE PROGRAM - Application Deadline Tonight at 11:59pmThe Nova Scotia Government's Small Business Real Property Tax Rebate Program application deadline was extended, but closes tonight July 9 (11:59PM Deadline). The program provides eligible businesses a one-time rebate for a portion of their paid property taxes – either $1,000 or 50% of commercial real property taxes paid in last 6 months of the 2020-21 tax year. TOURISM RESTART PROGRAM - Applications Being Accepted Until July 23rdThe Tourism Accommodations Restart Customer Attraction Program will help registered tourism accommodations with marketing activities to attract customers and bring tourism dollars to Nova Scotia businesses. Eligible operators will receive a grant of $1,000 per room for their first 10 rooms and $500 per room for each additional room. Complete the online application form. The Small Tourism Operators Restart Program provides a 1-time grant of $5,000 to help tourism businesses that were affected by COVID-19 restrictions. The funding can be used for advertising or other restart expenses like personal protective equipment or cleaning supplies. Apply Here.
