UOW surges in QS World University Ranking by Subject results
 

The latest round of university rankings data released Wednesday 8 March has placed UOW among the world’s best in several subject fields, with minerals and mining engineering ranking 26th in the world, the University’s top performer.
 

UOW this year features among the world's elite institutions in 25 of the 46 subjects assessed and is represented across all five broad subject areas. This marks an improvement on last year’s results that saw UOW ranked in 19 out of 42 subjects assessed in 2016.

Student satisfaction remains high at UOW
 

UOW has once again outperformed most Australian universities in the overall satisfaction of undergraduate students.

The recent update of the Australian Federal Government’s Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) data showed the University above the national average in the student experience categories of overall quality of educational experience, teaching quality, learner engagement, learning resources, student support and skills development.

Next-generation batteries a game changer for electric cars
 

Under a new partnership between the University of Wollongong (UOW) and China’s Tianneng Battery Group Company, a research team led by Professor Zaiping Guo has secured funding to develop the next generation of high-energy-density lithium-ion batteries. Among other things, the batteries have the potential to significantly increase the range of electric cars.

He took advantage of the cheap transport to explore Europe and have the “trip of a lifetime”. The most memorable part of his exchange, however was the people he met and the things he learnt about himself.

International visit strengthens life sciences relationship
 

A delegation of researchers from the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) in Vienna were recently welcomed to UOW to discuss potential future collaborations between the two universities.

The delegation visited the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, the Environmental Resource Centre and the School of Civic, Mining and Environmental Engineering.

Seed fund raising the bar of success for regional innovation
 

The University of Wollongong (UOW) has announced the raising of $10 million in investment capital to support entrepreneurs grow their ideas into viable businesses.

The new seed fund will be delivered through iAccelerate, UOW’s business incubator and accelerator that was created to support entrepreneurs develop successful businesses by bringing new products, solutions and services to market.

Students get inside look at Australia/US relationship
 

Students from UOW’s Faculty of Business recently got a unique ‘inside view’ of the Australia/US relationship at a guest lecture presented by a senior US Consulate official at the Wollongong Campus. Consul for Political and Economic Affairs to the United States Consulate General, Andrea Aquilla, hosted the informal, hour long Q&A forum for more than 40 Business Faculty students and staff.

transition easier by providing an opportunity for students to pick up free household items that have been donated by
