Rogers County and GUY Engineering celebrated the completion of Bridge #60 over Dog Creek with a ribbon cutting on March 31. The bridge is in Rogers County District #1, led by Commissioner Dan DeLozier.

The new Bridge #60 replaces two bridges, one built in 1941 and one built in 1999. The previous alignment had a sharp curve that posed a safety hazard, while the new precast rigid frame bridge has a safer alignment.

South Dakota, here we come!

GUY has been awarded our first task order with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, as part of a team designing campus improvements for the Takini School. This school serves approximately 200 high school students in Howes, SD. GUY's role on the team is to design a water distribution system, and we are excited to be part of improving the water system for these students as well as for their teachers, administrators, and other staff!

National Surveyors Week is celebrated every year starting with the third Sunday in March. In 2021, we celebrated National Surveyors Week from March 21-27.

Land surveying has been a part of civilization since the beginning of recorded history, with the first historical examples dating back to the ancient Egyptians during the building of the Great Pyramid at Giza in 2700 BC.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics says there are more than 45,000 professional land surveyors in the United States, plus countless more Land Survey Interns and survey technicians. We are thankful for the surveying professionals who have chosen to be part of the GUY Family!

Did you know April is National Stress Awareness Month? Stress Awareness Month has been recognized every April since 1992, but this year it seems especially important.

Stress is a normal part of existence - nobody is immune to it! According to stress.org, here are four stressful facts you need to know:

Stress can help — sometimes. Stress can motivate you to prepare for a challenging event or to perform at your peak. It can even be life-saving in some situations!
People under stress are more susceptible to headaches, insomnia, high blood pressure, and more.
The five factors most often cited as sources of stress are money, work, family, economic outlook, and relationships.
The most stressed-out states are Louisiana, New Mexico, and West Virginia, while the least stressed-out states are Minnesota, North Dakota, and Utah.

To help combat stress, make sure you are eating healthy foods, exercising, and getting enough sleep. Time outside and meditating are also great stress relievers.
