March 2021 No images? Click here Rogers County and GUY Engineering celebrated the completion of Bridge #60 over Dog Creek with a ribbon cutting on March 31. The bridge is in Rogers County District #1, led by Commissioner Dan DeLozier. The new Bridge #60 replaces two bridges, one built in 1941 and one built in 1999. The previous alignment had a sharp curve that posed a safety hazard, while the new precast rigid frame bridge has a safer alignment. South Dakota, here we come!GUY has been awarded our first task order with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, as part of a team designing campus improvements for the Takini School. This school serves approximately 200 high school students in Howes, SD. GUY's role on the team is to design a water distribution system, and we are excited to be part of improving the water system for these students as well as for their teachers, administrators, and other staff! National Surveyors Week is celebrated every year starting with the third Sunday in March. In 2021, we celebrated National Surveyors Week from March 21-27. Land surveying has been a part of civilization since the beginning of recorded history, with the first historical examples dating back to the ancient Egyptians during the building of the Great Pyramid at Giza in 2700 BC. The Bureau of Labor Statistics says there are more than 45,000 professional land surveyors in the United States, plus countless more Land Survey Interns and survey technicians.
